Celebrity Traitors star Joe Wilkinson reveals BBC bosses cut out a key moment that could have turned the tide for the ‘useless’ Faithful.
The comedian, who was revealed as part of the line-up of famous faces currently taking part in the first series of the BBC One spin-off, was the latest victim to be murdered by the Traitors last week.
Joe, 50, was sent packing by Jonathan Ross, 63, Alan Carr, 49, and Cat Burns, 25, after he found himself on the right track to sniffing out the Traitors.
He was bumped off in the night after the Faithful turned on ‘Big Dog’Â Stephen Fry, who was banished from the castle, leaving the Traitors safe once more.
And while Joe had voiced a number of theories about who had been behind the killings, none of them had resonated loudly enough with the group.
Now, Joe has now revealed that he correctly started to guess that Cat was a Traitor before he was given the boot – but scenes were cut by bosses from air.

Joe has now revealed that he correctly started to guess that Cat was a Traitor before he was given the boot
He told Metro: ‘The only reason I chose Cat in the end was because someone said, âLook at the person you think of least.â
‘You donât really see it in the show, but I was hanging out with Cat quite a lot…Â Suddenly, I went, “Cat! Why do I trust Cat? Itâs mainly because Iâve just been hanging out with her”.’
He insists he wouldn’t have picked her out at the roundtable just yet if he’d still been in the game, however, adding: ‘I really liked her â she was just so cool and lovely to hang out with. So no, I wouldnât have gone for her next.â
Joe was among the latest batch of Faithful stars to be sent packing from the castle, as actor Mark Bonnar and broadcaster Stephen were both voted out at the roundtable.
After his banishment, Line of Duty star Mark was left fuming when he found out Alan Carr, Jonathan Ross and Cat Burns weren’t faithful.
Appearing on spin-off show Uncloaked after he was banished from the castle, the Scottish actor, 56, was shocked to discover who the Traitors really were.
During the episode, Mark became the latest star to leave after the Faithful had voted for both him and historian David Olusoga in equal numbers.
The stalemate vote in the round table meant his fate would be decided by the Chest Of Chance and he was sent packing, with the traitors still going undetected.

Jonathan and his fellow Traitors have so far remained undetected
Joining host Ed Gamble on the show, he was handed a letter which revealed the names of the traitors.
‘Jonathan f***ing Ross!,’ Mark exclaimed as he read the script, ‘Well played he is really good at it.’
Continuing to read, he added: ‘Man, Cat, she is good. I thought she was 100% faithful. This is exhausting!’
But it was Alan that really shocked Mark, leaving him speechless, ‘Oh, it’s Alan. Well played though,’ he said after throwing his head back in anger.
‘You know what, on our way out from the table, I was beside him and I glance at him and he was like [head down] and I never mentioned that again.’
Ed struggled to hold back his laughter at Mark’s dramatic reaction to the big reveal.
Thursday’s Celebrity Traitors revealed the outcome of the show’s first ever tie-break, after fans were left aghast by the dramatic cliffhanger.
It was revealed that Mark was the latest star to leave the castle, after the hopeless faithfuls had voted for historian David Olusoga and actor Mark in equal numbers at the banishment on Wednesday’s episode.

But with two tied votes, it was left to host Claudia Winkleman to intervene and tell the contestants that Mark and David’s fate now be left to chance.
Claudia presented Mark and David with two chests, one with a shield protecting them from banishment and the other empty, to choose from.
After a tense few seconds, the pair opened their chests, revealing that David was safe from banishment, while Mark’s chest was empty.
With the news that he was banished from the game, it was left to the Line of Duty star to reveal that he had been truthful and had been faithful throughout the game, leaving the players gobsmacked.
Speaking after his exit, Mark shared his disappointment at being banished through the never-before-seen Chest Of Chance.
He said: ‘I’m really glad David’s a Faithful and I really hope he doesn’t go. I think he’s a real asset to them and I hope suspicions about him disappear very quickly. That I can’t see happening though.
‘Having that roundtable decided by the Chest of Chance was very dramatic and it was very emotional.
‘I got so caught up in it all, but I hope it was a good TV moment. Even though I was sad to go, I thought, well, they’ve never done that before!’
Celebrity Traitors continues Wednesday at 9pm on BBC One and is available to stream on iPlayer.Â
