Daniel Osbourne will be furious on Coronation Street next week as he learns that the villainous Megan Walsh, his former flame, is back on the scene. With the teacher already feeling stressed following incessant trolling, he loses his temper.
Daniel was briefly dating Megan for a while, though he was unaware that the athletics coach was grooming one of her students, Will Driscoll. After her crimes became apparent, she was arrested, but released on bail.
Daniel, meanwhile, has suffered trolling and harassment over his prior relationship with Megan, despite the fact he was unaware of her crimes. One account, called Truthteller, has relentlessly targeted him.
Unbeknownst to Daniel, close friend Jodie Ramsey is the figure behind the account. He has tried to keep his mind off things, but was covered in ketchup by youths earlier this week. Feeling overwhelmed, he scared his son Bertie after losing his temper.
In scenes set to air on Monday (1 June), Daniel is preparing to return to work following his suspension, which came after an incident involving Hope Dobbs. Before he goes, Bertie presents him with a mug which reads “World’s Best Teacher”.
His return to work isn’t smooth, however, as it becomes apparent that Jodie’s Truthteller account has a copycat. Lily Platt taunts Daniel by reading the latest posts, and she purposefully bashes into him.
This causes Daniel to drop the mug which Bertie had given him earlier, and it smashes into several pieces. The teacher breaks down in tears, while Jake Windass films the incident on his phone.
Following his terrible day at work, Daniel heads to the Rovers to drown his sorrows, but Adam Barlow instructs Sean Tully from serving him. After storming out, he spots Megan at the precinct, and chastises her for ruining his life.
