Emmerdale fans spot huge Corriedale crossover clue as character ‘confirmed’
Emmerdale fans have spotted a nod to Coronation Street ahead of the big Corriedale episode next year – and viewers can’t wait to see how it all plays out
Emmerdale fans have spotted a nod to their fellow ITV soap Coronation Street ahead of a big crossover episode next year. In January, the worlds of the Dales and the Cobbles will collide in a special Corriedale episode.
During tonight’s episode, panic set in for the Dingles as Lydia and husband Sam struggled to get the funds together to pay for their electricity and new wiring. With no money to even buy Jason Donovan tickets for Lydia, Belle visited Sam.
However, discussions soon turned to her work with Take A Vow as they plotted a plan to steal Christmas trees and raise money for what they needed. With Belle insisting she was too busy at first, she mentioned one of her clients at the wedding planning company.
One fan wrote: “Bridezilla in Manchester demanding a choir sings at her wedding, Belle?! Oh, it’s building… #emmerdale #corrie #corriedale.” They are, of course, referencing Debbie Webster’s plan to get married this Christmas.
New spoilers for Coronation Street’s festive episodes tease that a shocking death rocks the Webster family as Debbie’s hen do turns out to be more of a “hen don’t”. Spoilers tease that there is a terrible secret Debbie is hiding that could tear everything apart.
It has also been revealed in spoilers that Debbie’s dream day will feature an emotional performance with the Dementia Choir, which is clearly what Belle is referencing in regards to her work with Take A Vow.
It comes after soap stars teased who they’d be teaming up with in the crossover – as fans were asked to vote about who they wanted to see connect from both soaps in the special January episode.
The poll won’t be opening until next year but filming has already begun. Emma Atkins, who plays Charity Dingle, has filmed a scene with Coronation Street’s Alison King, who plays Carla Connor.
Emma revealed on This Morning: “There’s a smidge of flirt but that’s all I can say. It’s more than a smidge!” James Hooton, who plays Sam, said he’d be filming with Andy Whyment, who plays Kirk Sutherland.
“It’s going to be a meeting of two brain cells and that’s all I can tell you at this time. It’s going to be a fascinating scene and I think you should all vote for it,” he joked. Nicola King confirmed she’d be filming with Cobbles legend David Neilson, who plays Roy Cropper.
The final pairing will be Michael Parr, who plays Ross Barton on Emmerdale and Kate Ford, who stars as Tracy McDonald in Coronation Street. What scene we see will depend how fans vote early next year.
Two characters who will be in the crossover episode are DS Lisa Swain and Aaron Dingle – played by Vicky Myers and Danny Miller. Speaking about the crossover, Vicky said: “To be involved in this unique, bold, innovative, not to mention history-making episode, in Coronation Street’s 65th year, (well, when we are filming it at least), is fantastic.
“When I read the script and found out how two worlds collide, who is involved and how the characters interact, not to mention the impact the events of the night will have… Wow. It’s going to be unmissable.”
Danny added: “I am made up that Aaron is in the Corriedale episode. Originally from Manchester, Coronation Street has always been an iconic show in our house just as much as Emmerdale … I can’t wait to see how the episode plays out with the separate storylines from both Emmerdale and Corrie. It’s going to be epic and every soap fans dream.”
