Helen Flanagan has candidly shared her struggles with an “up and down” festive season without her children amidst a spat with the father of her kids, Scott Sinclair. The 35 year old former Coronation Street star took to Instagram to shed light on her emotional state following her public criticism of the ex-footballer’s parenting decisions.

Recently, Helen didn’t mince words when she called her former partner a “piece of s**t” for choosing to enjoy himself in Abu Dhabi instead of attending their son’s nativity play. However, setting the drama aside for a moment, she posted a picture of herself in a pink halterneck top, reclining on a chair and gazing upwards.

In her honest caption, Helen, who is currently playing the Wicked Queen in Liverpool’s Snow White pantomime over the holiday season, wrote: “Been a bit up and down mood wise the past few days. So not really been on my social so thought we could have a catch up.”

She then shared a nostalgic photo from last year’s Christmas celebrations with her three children Matilda, 10, Delilah, seven, and Charlie, four. Helen ended her relationship with her former fiancé in 2022 after being together for 13 years. She continued: “I struggled with the kids going for Christmas a few days before they went.”

“I know it’s just a day. They went on the 22nd and I don’t get them back until I finish panto. ” Referring to the photo, she added: “This was last year at my mum’s. Been a bit up and down mood wise the past few days.”

It’s been a rocky road for parents-of-three, Helen and Scott, who called time on their relationship in 2022. Just last week, Helen called Scott “a piece of s**t” in the scathing rant, said to be the “final straw” for Helen three years after ending her relationship with the footballer.

Despite their split, Helen has been very vocal about making sure she has the upper hand when it comes to their children’s lives – particularly when it comes to gifts and celebrations.

In a revealing new interview with Closer magazine, Helen didn’t hold back when discussing her ex’s role in parenting. She admitted that while the two of them have to coordinate gifts for their children, she isn’t shy about taking control. “Oh, we have to discuss buying gifts for the kids,” she explained.

“It would really annoy me if we bought the same thing. Anyway, I don’t actually think Scott would go shopping for the kids, he’s a man. He’s totally useless, his mum probably does it. So I just tell him what I’m buying them and that’s that.”

Helen’s candid comments are sure to stir the pot, highlighting a dynamic that’s less than friendly. Meanwhile, Scott has yet to publicly respond to her latest remarks, leaving the speculation and gossip mill running at full speed.

A year after welcoming their third child and moving into a new house in Cheshire, Helen shocked fans with the news that she and Scott had split after hitting a ‘rough patch’.

After finally calling it quits after a number of reconciliations, she spoke to Charlotte Dawson on her podcast last year and insisted that she and Scott did love each other, but ‘didn’t like each other at all’.

Lifting the lid on their rocky relationship, Helen said: “I still love him very much, I care about him deeply, but we don’t like each other. We don’t like each other at all, we don’t get on. I do know that Scott – he’d never admit it – cares about me too and he does love me.”

She added: The last time I saw him, I thought it was quite funny, I was taking the p*** out of him because he had a bucket hat on. I think he was trying not to laugh.”

Opening up about her relationship with The Sun earlier this year, the Rosie Webster star spoke of her sadness over the split, saying: “Break-ups are so sad, and if you can deal with it in a way where you’re on good terms, it’s better for your mental health and 100% better for the kids.”

However, it’s not always peace and love for Helen and Scott – who is notoriously private about his former relationship – as the actress admitted that the pair do continue to clash with one another.
