Emmerdale fans are worried that April Windsor could be about to be killed off in a shocking twist. Fans of the ITV soap will know that the teenager, who is played by Amelia Flanagan, has been caught up in a harrowing plotline with Celia Daniels and Ray Walters, as the villainous mother-and-son duo have forced her into drug dealing, and are now blackmailing her family into paying them thousands.

Just before Christmas, Celia ordered Ray to stick to their usual routine and pack up so they could go on the run. The pair have also been operating a slavery ring within the village, and when one of their captives died, they buried the body on Moira’s land in an attempt to frame her for murder. Realising that they needed to make a swift exit, Celia decided that the best way to extort money from April’s family was to take her to Wrexham with them, and she was convinced she had no option but to go.

In the latest instalment of the Yorkshire-based serial, April managed to catch Bear Wolf, the father of Paddy Dingle and one of Celia’s slaves, and tried to make him see that he had been manipulated into it to no avail. She was then spotted by Ray, who covered for her, but confirmed they would be leaving on New Year’s Day.

Unfortunately for April, she was also running away from the farm by Celia, and she later laid her chilling plan to Ray. She said: “I follow my gut, and my gut tells me April is not to be trusted. She spoke to Ted. I’m sure of it. You have pulled the wool over my eyes too many times. You have stood up for them too many times. I’ll take care of Ted. You take care of April. Time for them to disappear.” Fans were quick to react to the worrying twist as they feared that April could die as part of Celia’s wicked plan.

One fan wrote on X: “I am praying this April, Ray and Celia storyline comes to an end this week. I actually can’t anymore,” and another said: “Please don’t kill April off!” Another viewer, clearly unimpressed, wrote: “Okay, but this storyline with Celia, Ray, April, and Dylan is getting boring and monotonous… they’ve dragged it out so long that it’s boring and pathetic to watch.”

Even though fans might be nervous that April could be leaving the programme, the only departures that have been confirmed are those of Ray and Celia. Joe Absolom, who previously starred in EastEnders and Doc Martin, is said to have already filmed his final scenes as Ray.

A source said: “Bosses knew they only ever had Joe for a certain amount of time, but they’ve definitely made the most of having someone of his calibre in the village. He filmed his final scenes back in November.” Representatives for Emmedale declined to comment. According to The Sun, it’s thought that his exit scenes will play out as part of Emmerdale’s upcoming crossover with fellow soap Coronation Street. Throughout his relatively short time in the Yorkshire village, Joe’s character has been at the centre of one of the programme’s darkest storylines in its 53-year history.

Prior to that, it was revealed that Celia is also set to make her departure, and actress Jaye Griffiths, who has also starred in The Bill and Doctors, recently told of how ‘sad’ she felt to be leaving the part behind. Speaking about her exit, Jaye said: “I knew it was finite, which I am very sad about, because I would like to stay forever, but it’s such a strong arc. It’s heaven, one of the nicest places I’ve ever worked, and I’ve done a little bit of work before!

“It is gentle and kind and professional and funny, and people care that it’s good. People care that we tell the story properly. It’s a joy to come to work. I’m gushing now, aren’t I?” Jaye has enjoyed the reaction to Celia so far but urged fans to remember she is “really nice” in real life, despite her character’s dark deeds.

She said: “Everybody, they come up to me in the street and tell me how much they love Celia, and you think, ‘yeah, that’s not going to last’. That’s so not going to last, and I want to remind people that it’s just pretend and I am really nice, and I’m not a sociopath. It’s so not gonna last, I’m gonna get hate mail!”
