Coronation Street fans have said ‘it’s working’ as they spotted one character’s ‘redemption arc’ almost two years after their arrival on the cobbles.

Viewers were first introduced to the detective constable, played by actor Jacob Roberts, after Bernie Winter went on a mission to find her long-lost son, Zodiac. When she found Kit, by posing as a cleaner before rifling through his drawers, he lied and said he wasn’t adopted before his true identity was uncovered.

He didn’t make life easy for his newly-discovered family, However, Kit started to soften towards his family, especially as Paul’s health declined following his Motor Neurone Disease (MND) diagnosis which eventually led to his death in September 2024. But it still wasn’t really until last year that he let Bernie in, after she was almost killed by his former childhood pal, Mick Michaelis.

But it’s not just in his personal life that Kit has been difficult to deal with, as DS Lisa Swain has found out at work with the detective constable. However, during Thursday’s (January 8) edition of Corrie, Lisa softened towards her ‘frenemy’ after he was involved in saving her partner, Carla Connor’s, life.

As fans of the ITV soap know, Kit and Carla joined forces to try and bring down Lisa’s ex-wife Becky Swain following her shock return in September. Becky emerged from the dead, four years after she was assumed to have been killed in the line of duty, and was quick to get between Lisa and Carla.

With a clear intention to get her family – Lisa and their daughter Betsy – back together, Becky’s villainous nature knew no bounds. She soon succeeded in splitting them up, with viewers witnessing emotional scenes as Carla called time on her and Lisa’s relationship. Later, Carla had a change of heart but Lisa didn’t seem to want to know, leaving her partner heartbroken.

She left her engagement ring behind at No.6 and seemingly headed off on a holiday to Spain she had originally planned as a surprise for Lisa and Betsy. However, some things just weren’t adding up, especially with Carla not checking into her hotel, and it was soon revealed she was being held captive by Becky.

When Kit finally worked out what his and Lisa’s boss DI Costello’s mention of ‘Rhubarb Hill’ meant, with the addition of ‘Blessing’, being a location code, he headed to the flat Carla was only being kept in, only to find no one there as Becky had already got onto Kit and had moved Carla before he eventually found her once and for all in a shipping container.

While in a bad way, Carla wasn’t willing to let Kit take her for medical help and encouraged him to drive as Becky continued her plans to leave for Rotterdam with Lisa and Betsy in tow. As the pair sped towards the port to make sure that she can’t leave, Carla was seen making a call to Lisa.

Becky was quickly put on edge and it appeared that Becky knew exactly who Lisa was talking to. Distracted and angry, Becky kept her foot on the car’s accelerator while Lisa demanded she stop the car. Betsy screams out to her mum and while the episode came to an end, the drama was only just beginning as they were involved in a catastrophic multi-vehicle crash.

Thankfully, Lisa and Betsy survived, as did Becky. But her future appears bleak after Lisa, despite being treated in an ambulance, arrested her. During Thursday’s (January 8) Corrie, Lisa was seen back at Weatherfield Police station, where she and Kit seemingly reflected on recent events.

She thanked Kit for saving Carla’s life, but he pointed out that it was all Carla’s doing when it came to pinning down Becky. He also pointed out that his girlfriend, Sarah Platt, had even got involved and she joked they were ‘coming for their jobs’. Kit also gave Lisa a few home truths, as when she asked why he didn’t tell her, he pointed out she didn’t listen.

And it appears recent scenes have turned the tide on the negativity previously felt towards Kit. @alohaimarie said: “Never thought id say this but i genuinely liked that scene with Lisa and Kit.” @need4peed said: “kit’s always given lisa’s annoying little brother to me so the scene today was actually very sweet.”
