Coronation Street fans think they have ‘worked out’ Jodie’s love interest on the cobbles, but it isn’t David Platt after some previously suspected the pair would end up having an affair.

The character has only recently arrived in Weatherfield, with her first appearance coming during the show’s epic crossover with fellow ITV soap Emmerdale, dubbed Corriedale, which featured a horror multi-vehicle crash that saw the lives of those from Weatherfield and the Dales in danger.

While not directly involved in the crash, Jodie was involved in the chaos, having initially seen tied up in the back of a van, thought to be the one driven by Emmerdale’s Graham Foster. Afterwards, Jodie was seen lingering around Weatherfield General, having followed David and Shona Platt to the hospital, where the latter underwent surgery alongside her newborn daughter, who was later revealed to be named Harper.

And it was revealed that Jodie is in fact Shona’s half-sister, and she’s planning on sticking around after a worried David invited her to stay at No.8, having found her outside Weatherfield General suffering waht was a panic attack, and revealed she’d need to find a hotel to stay at.

It was during Wednesday’s (January 14) visit to the cobbles that Shona questioned Jodie having spotted bruises on her wrists. Jodie claimed she was involved in an abusive relationship, which made sense to David after finding her having a panic attack as she was bombarded with messages and calls to her phone.

Shona was keen to support her sister, revealing to David that when she left home, she vowed to return but never did. When she did get the courage to go back, it was too late and her family had already moved on, leaving Shona guilt-ridden for abandoning her sibling.

Then, during Friday’s (January 16) Corrie, Jodie was seen still making herself at home at No.8, and once again faced Nick Tilsley who dropped off a vegetable lasagne for David and Shone, before questioning why Lily was off school. It came after they had earlier in the week had an awkward stand-off when Nick was startled to see a stranger in his brothe’rs home.

But as fans saw later in the last episode of the week, Jodie was quick to offer support to David after he revealed his and Shona’s newborn daughter had takne for a turn for the worse after she was born with a tumour on her neck. Jodie also claimed to David that she has made him some tea, not revealing it was Nick who had actually dropped off the food.

While it still somehow hints that Jodie could be trying to grow close to David, others think its a red herring and that it’s in fact Nick who she’ll end up having an affair with. On Reddit, Jenson2025 said: “After watching tonight’s episode, I have a feeling Nick and Jodie are going to have an affair. I already thought the scene on Wednesday when they met was a bit weird and gave off future affair vibes.”

nostalgic_muffin replied: “Ah good spot. I think we’re being led to think she’ll go after David but I don’t think David would go there, he and Shona are in a good place. Nick would make sense though.” Northernplace89 shared: “Yep I thought that about Nick & Jodie, then thought Leanne & Ben might have an affair.” Blousey_B added: “I noticed there was a weird vibe there. It’s not unlike Nicky T to have an affair!”
