A number of Coronation Street legends, including Sue Devaney, have been flooding social media with their messages for co-star Tanisha Gorey as she shared a huge personal update over the weekend.
The actress, best known for playing Asha Alahan in the ITV soap, took to Instagram to reveal that she was engaged after her rarely-seen boyfriend, Lucas Wheelan, popped the question.
While he doesn’t often feature on her social media as they keep their relationship out of the spotlight, Tanisha first went public with her relationship with Lucas on her 18th birthday. The two were then flooded with support when they revealed they had bought their first home together back in 2022.
The couple then celebrated their fifth anniversary last year and it was on Saturday (January 17) that Tanisha took to her Instagram and shared a carousel of loved-up snaps as she announced that she’s now engaged.
One picture showed a pink heart-shaped cake that read “just engaged”, surrounded by polorid pictures that saw the bride and groom-to-be celebrating their engagemend. Another snap also featrued Tanisha smiling next to her now-fiancé as she showed off her sparkling engagement ring.

The soap star wrote alongside the post: “brb still crying,” before her Corrie pals rushed to share their love and congratulatory messages. Sally Dynevor said: “Fantastic news. So happy for you darling. Congratulations.” Sally Carman-Duttine cheered: “Yes! Yes! Yes! Woohooooo! Congratulations you pair of beauties, I’m SO HAPPY FOR YOU.”
Sue Devaney gushed: “Congratulation to you and Lucas! So happy for you both. Love you very much.” Jane Hazlegrove shared: “What a beautiful way to start the new year! Many Congrats darlings both!! Love love love.” Samia Longchambon posted: “Massive congratulations guys!!!” Vicky Myers replied: “Congratulations to you both. What fabulous news.”
Andy Whyment typed: “Ah amazing congratulations to you both.” Cait Fitton penned: “whattt???!! Omgggg I’m so happy for you both! Congrats to you and Lucas.” Alan Halsall wrote: “congratulations.” Lucy Fallon, who also recently got engaged, added: “things u love to see.”
