Coronation Street fans have been seen making a demand after DS Lisa Swain’s drunken outburst sparked her reunion with Carla Connor.
Those who follow the ITV soap have been keen for the couple, affectionately dubbed Swarla, to reunite after their relationship was torn apart by the arrival of Lisa’s ex-wife, Becky Swain, who was believed to have died in the line of duty.
Becky’s appearance back in September came on her and Lisa’s daughter Betsy’s 18th birthday, as well as days after Lisa popped the question to Carla and the pair became engaged. It was clear her plan was to tear Lisa’s new, happy life apart and get her family back together, four years after faking her death.
She soon succeeded in splitting Lisa and Carla up as she plotted to run away with Lisa and their daughter. But that was before her fake death was exposed once and for all. In a bid to get what she wanted, Becky kidnapped Carla and convinced Lisa to join her and Betsy for a new life abroad.
Eventually, DC Kit Green, with some help from the likes of girlfriend Sarah Platt, cracked the case and found Carla tied up in a shipping container, having been moved from the flat by Becky when she realised her plan was about to be rumbled. In the end, Carla and Kit were able to stop Becky in her tracks, but after she had already been involved in a horrific car crash.
Thankfully, Lisa and Betsy survived, as did Becky. But her future is quite bleak after Lisa, despite being treated in an ambulance, arrested her, and viewers have since seen her be sentenced to 12 years for her crimes.
But Becky’s death didn’t lead to an immediate reunion for Lisa and Carla, as despite Lisa’s apologies and attempts at reconciliation, Carla seemed unable to forgive her, knowing she hadn’t been listened to and that she’d slept with Becky during her period of disappearance.
But much to Corrie fans’ delight, their reunion moved another step closer during Wednesday’s (January 21) edition of Corrie. After getting a letter from the detective sergeant, Carla agreed to a lunch with Lisa at the Bistro. But prior to their meeting, Carla was seen in a meeting with two clients at the Chariot Square hotel who were keen for the Underworld factory boss to turn off her phone to avoid any distractions in their meeting.

Losing track of time, Carla was alerted to her missed lunch with Lisa when she drunkenly arrived to confront her. She ended up pouring her heart out in front of Carla’s clients, and then vomited on the floor in front of them, leaving the businesswoman with no choice but to take her home.
