Coronation Street fans are in for a whirlwind of a week next week with a proposal attempt, Debbie Webster’s continued prison turmoil and the potential for Jodie Ramsey to be ‘exposed’.

Starting elsewhere, and fans will recall that Carla Connor’s brother Rob Donovan tried to escape prison last year after becoming a kidney donor for his sister and by striking up a relationship with prison guard, Mandy, she was able to help him break free.

However, Rob showed his true colours, and Mandy was heartbroken to discover Rob wasn’t really interested in her – but was already pregnant with his child.

Mandy hasn’t been seen since but next week, Carla opens the door and is shocked to find a baby in a car seat on the doorstep. Lisa goes after the woman hurrying away, only to discover the baby is Connie, the daughter of Rob and Mandy.

The baby’s grandmother explains that she needs them to look after Connie while she’s in hospital, but Carla refuses point blank, despite Lisa spelling out that she’s Connie’s auntie and without her she’ll end up in care.

It seems Lisa’s words contribute to a change of heart, as later, having been woken up early by Connie, will a bleary-eyed Carla, Lisa, Betsy and Ryan Connor accept that this is their new routine?

As their time together progresses, Carla bounces Connie on her knee as they watch TV together and Lisa wonders if she’s making a breakthrough. Meanwhile, Sally tries to offer Carla and Lisa parenting tips, but they make it clear they’re not interested.

Meanwhile on the cobbles, as Cassie Plummer prepares a surprise proposal, Tim Metcalfe leads Steve McDonald towards Victoria Gardens, but suddenly Steve’s phone rings to reveal the news that dad Jim has died.

The proposal forgotten, Cassie pulls him in for a hug. As they toast Jim’s memory in the Rovers, Tracy Barlow notices that Cassie’s dressed up and when she clocks her slipping something into Mary’s pocket, her suspicions are aroused. Will Tracy realise that Cassie was intending to propose? Meanwhile, Steve breaks down to Tim.

Later, as Steve and Cassie chat to Ben Driscoll about Jim’s funeral arrangements, Tracy realises that Steve is still blissfully unaware that Cassie intended to propose to him. Will she keep it that way?

Also next week, in prison, Debbie Webster helps Lou Michaelis make some bracelets for her kids. But when Paula tries to steal one of the bracelets, Lou stands up to her, and the moment leaves Debbie shaken.

Later, Debbie enters Lou’s cell to find she’s taken a beating from Paula and when Sally Metcalfe, Brody and the girls visit Lou and are shocked at her injuries. Meanwhile, visiting Debbie, Carl Webster pulls on her heartstrings until she agrees to give him more cash.

Overhearing their exchange, Sally warns Debbie that Carl’s taking her for a ride. Debbie leaps to Carl’s defence but deep down she knows Sally’s right. In her cell, Debbie frets over her dysfunctional relationship with Carl, the stress taking its toll. On hearing that Carl has been screwing more money out of Debbie, how will her husband Ronnie Bailey react?

When Debbie returns to her cell and explains to Lou that she wishes she weren’t stuck in prison for what could be her final few months, Lou calls Sally from prison, who tells Ronnie how low Debbie is. But Debbie only ends up fuming at Lou for blabbing.

Back on the cobbles, a despondent George Shuttleworth shows Christina Boyd a raft of fake one star reviews posted online, realising Annie is responsible. Glenda Shuttleworth furiously types away, posting five-star reviews about Shuttleworths in an attempt to combat the negative ones.

Later, Christina reveals she’s reported Annie to the police for defamation. But when George is taken to the station for questioning over Annie’s fraud allegation, George despairs.

Once his questioning is over, George calls a crisis meeting with Christina and Glenda but he’s interrupted by a call from his solicitor. Later, George knocks back the drinks in the Rovers.

Meanwhile, when Theo Silverton returns from his mum’s early, Todd Grimshaw asks him for some money to buy him a birthday present. Theo gives him £200 but spells out that it must cover his birthday meal too. Later, Todd is shaken to see a message on his phone informing him that his account is in arrears and service won’t be restored until he pays his bill. What will Todd do?

Elsewhere in Weatherfield, Adam Barlow steps in a pile of dog muck as he sees Jodie Ramsey disappearing with David the dog. Fuming, he rounds on Jodie, but worried about Harper’s operation, Shona Platt gives him short shrift.

Later, Shona and her husband David nervously watch as the hospital staff prepare Harper for her operation. At Jodie’s suggestion the Platts arrive to lend their support. Having found out that Harper has suffered a minor bleed, David and Shona panic. As the family tries to rally round, David loses his temper and orders them to leave.

Jodie hugs David before heading out, where she passes a new mum. When she assumes that Jodie is Shona, Harper’s mum, and that David is her husband, will Jodie put her straight? Soon, David and Shona emerge from the hospital to find the family in the car park waiting for news. Once back inside the NICU, David and Shona watch over Harper with concern.

Back at No.8, Lily discovers Jodie’s secret box in a bag under the stairs. She’s puzzled to find the cut out photo of Bernie Winter and Brian Packham’s book.

Later, once back at the hospital the mum from yesterday approaches Jodie and enquires after Harper. As Jodie talks about her daughter’s operation, she’s horrified to realise Shona’s standing right behind her. How will Jodie explain this one? Once back at the Platts, Lily confronts Jodie with the photo of Bernie and Brian’s book. Can Jodie convince her not to tell anyone?
