In a recent Channel 4 documentary following her family’s long-dreamed-of move to Spain, Jasmine revealed the terrifying moment her husband Jon collapsed while renovating their new home in Estepona.
What began as an ordinary day spiralled into panic.
Emergency footage showed Jon being rushed to hospital, where doctors later confirmed he had suffered a heart attack — a diagnosis that sent shockwaves through the family.
“It didn’t feel real,” Jasmine later admitted. “Nothing ever prepares you for that moment.”
The fear was magnified by painful history: Jon’s sister Jo had previously died suddenly at just 40 from sudden arrhythmic death syndrome — a loss that had already left deep scars.
“When something like that happens,” Jasmine reflected, “everything else disappears.”
Thankfully, Jon has since made a strong recovery and returned to work. But the emotional aftershocks remain.
“You Start Measuring Life Differently”
Speaking candidly after the ordeal, Jasmine revealed how the experience permanently altered her outlook.
“Even with the fear of what could have happened,” she said, “it makes you feel lucky when someone survives and is still here.”

For someone who has already endured years of private struggles, the heart attack became another reminder of how fragile — and precious — life truly is.
The IVF Journey Viewers Never Knew
Long before the health scare, Jasmine and Jon faced a gruelling six-year struggle to conceive.
Eventually, they turned to IVF — a journey marked by emotional exhaustion and medical uncertainty.
Ahead of treatment, doctors discovered a benign ovarian tumour, forcing Jasmine to undergo further testing before she could proceed.
“I had an ovarian cyst — they called it a tumour,” she explained. “Thankfully, it was benign, but it was terrifying at the time.”
Against the odds, their first IVF cycle resulted in the birth of daughter Joy. Frozen embryos offered hope, and after heartbreak and setbacks, a third attempt led to the arrival of their son Albion.
Further attempts were unsuccessful.
“It wasn’t plain sailing,” Jasmine admitted. “But we’re incredibly grateful for the two beautiful children we have.”
Growing Up in Silence and Shame
Jasmine has also spoken openly about the emotional scars of her childhood, particularly her mother Vasoulla’s hoarding disorder.
Appearing on This Morning, she once broke down in tears, admitting she felt embarrassed and ashamed growing up in a cluttered home.
“I didn’t bring friends home,” she confessed. “When I started working in television, my biggest fear was that someone would find out how we lived.”
Rather than turning away, Jasmine later transformed that pain into purpose, launching a hoarding support website to help other families facing the same hidden struggle.
A Loss That Still Hurts
In 2024, Jasmine suffered another devastating blow with the death of her A Place in the Sun co-star Jonnie Irwin, who passed away aged 50 after battling terminal cancer.
In a heartbreaking tribute, she wrote:
“I have never admired you more than over the last few years.
The world feels darker without you.”
Weeks later, she broke down again on Loose Women, admitting Jonnie’s journey forced her — and the nation — to confront uncomfortable truths about time, illness and loss.
“You never know what’s around the corner,” she said quietly.

Looking back now, Jasmine believes the challenges she’s faced have reshaped her entirely.
