Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has accused the Greens of “sectarian cheating” after Zack Polanski’s party stormed to victory in the Gorton and Denton by-election.
Amid reports of unprecedented levels of illegal family voting across the constituency, the Reform UK leader labelled Hannah Spencer’s win a “victory for sectarian voting and cheating”.
Mr Farage insisted that Reform UK’s Matt Goodwin was a “great candidate”, before declaring: “Roll on the elections on May 7.”
He added that the local elections will spell “goodbye” for both Sir Keir and the Conservatives.
Responding to the claims of sectarian cheating, a spokesman for the Greens declared: “This is an attempt to undermine the democratic result and is straight out of the Trump playbook.
“We’ve just won a historic by-election by a comfortable margin.
“We’ve shown the country that Greens can beat Reform, despite their big business donations.”
