Teddi Mellencamp revealed she suffered a scary health incident that left her covered in painful sores.
“I thought I had the flu. And then I woke up one day and my whole body was just covered in, like, this terrible rash — like, you can’t even say it’s a rash because it’s almost like sores all over my entire body,” the reality star told co-host Tamra Judge on Tuesday’s episode of their “Two Ts in a Pod” podcast.
According to Mellencamp, the sores “hurt and they burned,” so doctors at urgent care told her to get to the emergency room as fast as possible.
At the hospiital, the podcast host discovered that a new medication she was on caused Stevens-Johnson syndrome.

Per the Mayo Clinic, it “is a rare, serious disorder of the skin and mucous membranes.”
Much like what Mellencamp experienced, the reaction starts with flu-like symptoms, before turning into a painful rash. The layer of the skin that was impacted will begin to shed with new skin coming in.
People with cancer are at a much higher risk of experiencing this reaction.
Mellencamp revealed her stage 2 melanoma diagnosis in October 2022 before undergoing more than a dozen surgeries.

In 2025, the “RHOBH” alum had an emergency procedure to remove several tumors in her brain.
Despite the disease spreading to her lungs, in October, Mellencamp, 44, shared that her cancer was gone.
While not “in remission,” Mellencamp has begun immunotherapy.
“I’m not considered in remission or anything like that,” she confessed on her podcast at the time. “The way the [doctors] said it works, it’s like one year, then two years, then at three years you’re allowed to be considered … in remission.”

However, her ex-husband, Edwin Arroyave, said the immunotherapy is “really hard on her mental health.”
“One of the hardest things for her is she really can’t work out,” the businessman explained to “The Eds” podcast listeners in January, noting that his ex is “just starting to move her body” again.
“She’s going through the immunotherapy [and] that alone causes some side effects,” the 48-year-old, who shares kids Slate, 12, Cruz, 11 and Dove, 6, with Mellencamp elaborated.
In January, fans were worried after the fitness coach’s dad, John Mellencamp, said that his daughter was “really sick” and “suffering.”

“It’s not f—ing fun,” the singer said while on the “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast at the time. “She’s got cancer in the brain, and she’s suffering right now.”
Mellencamp later set the record straight on “Two Ts in a Pod”, stating: “You know, I think when he said the words ‘suffering,’ he meant like, how I’m mentally doing versus how I’m physically doing.”
“Instantly people thought, ‘Oh my God, cancer’s back,’” Judge, 58, said.

Despite there being “no trace of cancer,” Mellencamp, seen here with her ex, still doesn’t feel great.edwinarroyaveofficial/Instagram\
“No, there’s still no trace of cancer. But I’m still considered stage four and I’m still in immunotherapy, so essentially nothing’s changed other than I still — I don’t feel great … I would hope that I would be feeling better by now, but I really don’t,” Mellencamp clarified.
These days, the star is expressing her gratitude for how far she’s come. In February, she penned a touching post on Instagram to mark the first anniversary of her brain surgery.
“A year ago today I went into the ER thinking I had migraines and within 24 hours was having surgery on the plum-sized stage 4 tumors on my brain,” Mellencamp captioned a photo of her in the hospital.
“I have a lot of anxiety surrounding today but also a lot of gratitude,” she continued. “Gratitude for the doctors and nurses who took care of me, gratitude for my family and friends for supporting me, and gratitude for all the love that you have poured into me. Trust your instincts. Get checked .”
