Coronation Street fans have said Maggie Driscoll ‘knows’ as they think they have worked out why she is paying such an interest in her grandson, Ollie Driscoll’s, current love triangle.

As those who follow the ITV soap are aware, Ollie was first introduced to Weatherfield last year as Dee-Dee Bailey’s love interest. But viewers were quickly suspicious of the newcomer, as they didn’t trust some of his initial behaviour on the cobbles.

But the reason for his shifty demeanour soon became clear, as it was revealed in October that he was the son of Ben Driscoll, the new landlord of the Rovers Return after he bought the iconic boozer for his partner, none other than Eva Price, with the move marking her return to the street after seven years away.

Since then, Ollie has become single, with Dee-Dee calling time on their relationship before taking a job in Singapore and moving across the world with her young daughter, Leila, in tow.

And it would be fair to say that Ollie hasn’t been short of female attention, with it looking like he was set to to start a new romance with Rovers barmaid, Lauren Bolton. After some shy flirting, the pair went on a date in the Bistro and things seemingly went well.

However, their possible romance was recently put on ice as a result of Ollie’s grandmother, Maggie Driscoll, interfering, making it clear Lauren wasn’t the right woman for her grandson. Ollie ended up hurt, however, after believing she had stood him up, but when Ollie tried to talk to her about it, Lauren brushed him off.

And it was later suggested that Lauren could have missed her chance for her happily ever after Ollie started chatting to Amy Barlow. When Lauren tried to find out if Amy was interested, she suggested she was but didn’t want to break ‘girl code’. But trying to keep it cool, Lauren insisted she crack on with Ollie as she wasn’t interested.

But that couldn’t be further from the truth, and during Monday’s (March 9) visit to Weatherfield, when a glam Amy revealed that she and Ollie were off out on their first proper date, she was clearly unhappy. After Maggie had a word, Lauren was distracted and as she went to hand over a drink, she stumbled and accidentally soaked Amy.

While Ollie was quick to suggest Lauren had done it on purpose through jealousy, Maggie was back in Lauren’s ear, telling her she needed to be more clever if she wanted to win Ollie back. “I didn’t think you liked me hanging round with him anyway?” Lauren questioned, to which Maggie replied: “What ever gave you that idea?” leaving Lauren with food for thought.

And Corrie fans think they know why Maggie, who was disapproving of Lauren previously, wants her to get inbetween Ollie and Amy as there is currently a theory doing the rounds that Ollie’s dad, and Amy’s, Steve McDonald, could secretly be related via Steve’s dad, Jim McDonald, whose death was confirmed in recent scenes.

If true, the relationship would make dating duo Ollie and Amy cousins. @_sammymfs said: “So if this steve and ben storyline is going where we all think it’s going that makes ollie and amy very related.” @Swain__Connor commented: “Maggie tryna stop Ollie and Amy being a thing cause she knows they’re low key cousins.”
