General Hospital star Laura Wright has not been shy about her love of tennis. The actress doesn’t just play that sport, but she has picked up pickleball in the last couple of years. When she’s not taking part in the historic court sport, Wright loves watching the best professional tennis players in the world serve and volley their way to championships.
General Hospital’s Carly is a major pro tennis fan
Wright, who plays Carly Spencer, regularly posts tennis-related stuff to her Instagram account, sometimes sharing her fandom for the best and most famous players in the game. Recently, she got the chance to see some of her favorite players in person.
The actress spent the weekend at a professional tournament in Indian Wells, California, near Palm Springs, about 120 miles from Los Angeles. It is called the BNP Paribas Open and features the best players in the world. In the pro tennis season, it is considered one of the biggest and \well-attended tournaments outside of the four Grand Slam majors (Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, U.S. Open).
The General Hospital star attended the tournament over the weekend with her boyfriend, Wes Ramsey, who played Peter August on GH and is currently Owen Kent on Days of Our Lives.
She made two posts on her Instagram account, sharing photos of herself and her beau in the facility. Some of the pictures showed them together at one of the main stadium courts. She also posted a video of Australian Open men’s singles champion Carlos Alcaraz, the No. 1 player in the world rankings, warming up for his match.
In the second post, she shared a picture of herself, Ramsey, and her ex-husband, John Wright, who is the father of her children, John and Lauren. She captioned that post, “Tennis Paradise with the Handsome Fella and forever family 💕”
On her Instagram Stories on March 10, Wright showed a picture of herself in the General Hospital hair department, watching a match on her phone.
Numerous General Hospital co-stars “Liked” one or both posts, including some of her onscreen romantic costars, James Patrick Stuart (Valentin), Chris McKenna (Brennan), and Cameron Mathison (Drew Cain).
The tennis pictures served up a lot of comments from GH fans. Some said they were either at the tournament themselves or saw her and Ramsey on TV while the Tennis Channel was broadcasting the tournament.

One Instagram fan, tanyagreen6354, said, “I saw you on the (T)ennis Channel watching the (Jessica Pegula) match, and I said, boy, she has pretty hair..and then I realized it was you!! Love me some Carly.”
The fan lisabeaujon is a big fan of Alcaraz, saying, “Oh yay!!! I’m there next Saturday, hoping to see him again! Gosh, we just love him, don’t we!!”
The fan tamm_y4951 simply said, “Enjoy your beautiful vacation. You guys are so cute together ❤️”
Wright and Ramsey have been to Indian Wells multiple times before. They went to the U.S. Open in New York in 2023.
Several fans asked about the wardrobe Wright was wearing in the posts. She wore a fedora-type hat on Day 1 and told a fan she bought it at the U.S. Open.
