The footage, from a 2023 incident, emerged days before Taylor‘s expected debut on The Bachelorette, which has now been canceled, and Dakota has now taken legal action against his ex, who is the mother of his 2-year-old son, Ever.
The documents are sealed from the public, but according to TMZ, Dakota, 33, filed a protective order against Taylor, 31, following a separate incident on February 23, in which Dakota called 911, and both parties claimed abuse, according to law enforcement.
Dakota reportedly details the alleged altercation from last month in his filing and claimed that Taylor “choked” him to the point where he had to physically remove her grip from his neck.
He also claimed that she “shoved” her baby daddy into a window and “struck” him when their son was with them at Taylor’s home.
Dakota, who Taylor was thought to have broken up with in December 2024, shortly before getting cast as The Bachelorette, called the incident “chaotic” and “frightening.”
Additionally, Dakota reportedly claimed in the filing that the fight woke up Ever, who heard his mother yelling and lashing out.
He also said he called 911 for help but was “pressured and manipulated” by Taylor to tell the dispatcher that their son was sick to end the call.
Dakota claimed he tried to put Ever back to bed and calm him down, but Taylor’s “aggressive behavior” woke Ever up again, and he started crying.
As a result, Dakota claimed he took Ever to his house to distance themselves from Taylor for their safety.
However, the fight apparently picked back up again the next night, as Dakota claimed that Taylor chucked his phone into the wall and “physically blocked [him] from exiting” her home.
He also alleged that Taylor followed him and continued to scream at him.
The violent altercation allegedly continued when Taylor followed Dakota into his truck and attacked him.
Dakota claimed that Taylor “grabbed and squeezed” his face, chucked a drink at him, and struck parts of his vehicle.
“I was unable to safely leave while this was happening, and my child had been left inside the home during the chaos under her watch due to our custody agreement,” Dakota reportedly said in the filing.
He also said in an effort to protect himself, he “pushed her away from [him], which she made contact with the passenger seat.”
Dakota said he eventually departed the home, but Taylor soon texted him saying she had a bloody nose and needed medical attention, “which I believe was an attempt to get me to return and prevent me from calling the police.”
The father of one noted he is “genuinely concerned for my safety and the safety and well-being of my child.”
Dakota alleged that he has bruises and lacerations from Taylor following the incident.
In addition to the restraining order, Dakota has requested temporary physical custody of Ever and that Taylor refrain from drinking or using drugs when he’s in her care.
TMZ further reported that Taylor’s ex-husband, Tate Paul, was at the Utah courthouse at the same time as Dakota and that he plans to also obtain a protective order against Taylor.
The exes share two children: Indy, 8, and Ocean, 5.
Since the abuse allegations came to light, ABC pulled the plug on Taylor’s season of The Bachelorette, and filming for her Hulu series, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, has been paused.
