SH0CK: THE BIGGEST HYPOCRITE ON TELEVISION FINALLY EXPOSED!

General Hospital’s Josslyn has been living her best life as a super spy since joining the WSB. After taking out Cyrus Renault and officially being recruited by Jack Brennan, Josslyn spent the better part of a year lying to her mother, Carly, about being an agent. Now that everything is out in the open, Josslyn has made it clear that taking down Sonny was her top motivating factor in joining the WSB. However, Josslyn’s immense rage feels somewhat misplaced, from the hypocrisy of it all or the target of her ire.

Josslyn is no General Hospital saint

Josslyn (Eden McCoy) has consistently complained about Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) illegal activities and the danger that he poses to her loved ones. Her disdain for her former stepfather reached a fever pitch when she was in a relationship with Dex Heller (Evan Hofer), and Sonny nearly killed him. Seeing with her own eyes the lengths to which Sonny was willing to go permanently altered her perception of him. Since the moment she saw how twisted he could become, Josslyn has wanted to bring him down.

However, when that same boyfriend, Dex, was unceremoniously murdered by Cyrus (Jeff Kober), Josslyn became the very thing that she loathed: a cold-blooded killer. While it’s true that violence follows Sonny everywhere he goes, does Josslyn still have a leg to stand on? Murder is murder, and whether she was led to Cyrus by Jack (Chris McKenna) or not, Josslyn still shot and killed a man. She has blood on her hands, and now that she’s become a killer herself, her words toward Sonny ring a bit hollow. The wrong thing done for the right reasons is still the wrong thing, which makes Josslyn ooze hypocrisy anytime she mentions the lives lost as a result of Sonny’s criminal activities.

Sins of the mother

Despite the validity of many of Josslyn’s claims against Sonny, it still feels like she’s potentially directing her anger toward the wrong person. In her fight with Carly (Laura Wright), Josslyn invoked Morgan’s (Bryan Craig) death, Michael’s (then Chad Duell) burns, and even the fire at Kristina’s (Kate Mansi) pub as examples of the destruction that follows Sonny and his children. However, even if Sonny’s organization paints targets on his children’s backs, shouldn’t she be pointing the finger at someone else?

It could be argued that Josslyn should direct most of her pent-up rage toward Carly. Her mother chose to stay with Sonny and bring him back into their lives over and over. Carly elected to have children with Sonny, despite knowing the constant danger that surrounded him. She wasn’t naive. She wasn’t in the dark. Carly knew exactly what she was getting into when she married Sonny and had children with him. Carly could’ve walked away and fought to keep Sonny out of their lives. Instead, as Josslyn pointed out, she keeps making excuses for him. So while Josslyn’s animosity toward Sonny is understandable, it seems nonsensical not to have the same energy for her mother and for the actions that enabled his behavior.
