Coronation Street‘s manipulative newcomer Jodie Ramsey is still on a charm offensive tonight – but one local resident isn’t fully convinced by her just yet.
Fans are well aware that Shona Platt’s scheming sister isn’t what she seems, but Jodie wants everyone to believe that she’s nice as pie.
Continuing with that mission in Thursday’s episode, Jodie offers to help Carla Connor by looking after baby Connie for a while. The suggestion comes just at the right moment, as Carla is busy with Underworld commitments and her partner Lisa Swain has been called into the police station to work on a case.
Carla has been taking care of Connie for the past few weeks, stepping in for her niece on a temporary basis as there was nobody else to care for her. But with so many responsibilities to balance, a childminder living just next door is a welcome development…
“I could mind her for you if you want,” Jodie suggests, as she chats to Carla and Ryan Connor over the garden fence.
When Carla seems sceptical, Jodie hastily adds: “DBS checked, the works. Fully qualified. Eight years experience.”
Carla is quickly won over and asks Jodie to take care of Connie for the next four hours.
However, when Lisa arrives home later on, she’s unsettled to find a near-stranger minding the little girl.
“I just think it might be an idea to check references,” Lisa suggests to Carla when they get a moment alone. “You know, make sure she’s above board?”
Bethany Platt, who’s also wary of Jodie, makes exactly the same point next week when she questions David on whether anyone has looked into Jodie’s past.
Jodie has more than a few skeletons in her closet, so with people starting to ask questions, is it only a matter of time before her secrets are revealed?
