When George called in at the flat, he handed Todd a holdall, explaining that it was his escape bag, saying it contained all the basics if he needed to grab it and go.
“You’ve got a lot of friends around you. You’ve got a lot of people that care for you,” said George. “I love you, and I will never ever give up on you.”
Todd told George that his future was with Theo and ushered George out of the flat, saying: “I’ve made a commitment to Theo. My future’s with him, we’ve made plans. Go, George. Go, please!”
An emotional George hid the bag, saying: “Now, you know where it is. And you know where I am. And you will be welcome with open arms and a cup of tea. Any time, day or night.”
When Theo rushed home after being alerted that someone was at the door, he told Todd that he was sick of George meddling in their lives.
“I’m used to him meddling,” said Theo. “But him rallying the troops, poisoning them against me, that’s something else. Something needs to be done.”
Todd pointed out that soon they would be in Ireland, and George would be history, and Theo accused Todd of standing up for George.
Todd said: “I’m just saying that we’re going to be miles away, starting our new life. A whole world away from here, just you and me.” But will they actually make it to Belfast?
