The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that the show seemingly closed the door on a Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Claire Newman (Hayley Erin) reunion – at least for the time being.
After Kyle recently went on a rant about Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) kidnapping Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and blowing up his life, Claire couldn’t help but defend her grandfather a bit.
Although Claire didn’t condone Jack’s abduction, she also wasn’t so quick to blame Victor for Jack betraying Diane Jenkins Abbott (Susan Walters) and ruining his marriage.
Kyle and Claire ultimately realized that Victor was always going to be an issue between them, so it felt like Y&R’s way of truly closing their romantic chapter.
Of course, that doesn’t mean Claire and Kyle will be done with each other forever.
There’s still a chance Kyle and Claire will come back around as a couple down the road since most soap pairings tend to do that.
However, this does mean Claire and Kyle are probably going to move forward with other people in the meantime.
It’s obvious that the show’s pushing Claire and Holden Novak (Nathan Owens) toward each other again, so they’re most likely going to build a full-fledged relationship soon.
Kyle deserves his own romantic reboot, so who will his next love interest be?
Holden has been pressuring Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) to recapture Kyle’s attention, but she seems more interested in reigniting things with Noah Newman (Lucas Adams).
Even so, Kyle and Audra have a messy past that could be revisited since their angry encounters always seem to have a little passion behind them.
On social media, some Y&R fans have suggested Kyle should get together with Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle), which would certainly be soapy and interesting.
That said, it’d also be out of left field and wouldn’t make much sense considering Victoria is even more loyal to Victor than Claire is!
There’s another Newman woman who Kyle is far more likely to drift toward eventually.
Summer Newman (last played by Allison Lanier) certainly has moments of Newman family loyalty, but she also has her limits.
Kyle has plenty of history with Summer, who’s been mentioned more times than we can count in recent months.
It honestly feels like perhaps the show planned on Summer returning and decided to delay it for whatever reason.
Summer’s comeback might be on hold, but we’d say it’ll still happen at some point.
A Summer recast might hit Genoa City somewhere down the line and reunite with Kyle, especially since Harrison Abbott (Redding Munsell) always gives them a reason to reconnect.
For now, Kyle may concentrate on helping Jack get Victor payback and repair his marriage to Diane.
There’ll be time for Kyle to focus on his own love life later, so a Summer reunion could still be an option for him.
