Y&R ULTIMATE SMACKDOWN: A SH0CKING PAST RESURFACES TO DESTROY A MARRIAGE!

In last Friday’s previews for this week on The Young and the Restless, we saw a different side to Traci as she harshly reminded Diane about the time she faked her own death. Jack and Kyle forgave her for that sin, so perhaps Diane should forgive Jack for his transgression with Patty? Will Traci’s wise words persuade Diane to give him another chance?

Last week on The Young and the Restless, Jack (Peter Bergman) ran into Diane (Susan Walters) at the GCAC and tried to make amends with her for having sex with Patty (Stacy Haiduk) on the yacht. But a tearful Diane had difficulty even getting through their conversation, let alone forgiving him. When Kyle (Michael Mealor) showed up, and Diane told Jack that she and Kyle were having dinner together, Jack asked whether he might join them. Unfortunately, Diane told him no.

That’s why the sneak preview for this week is so significant. First off, we rarely get to see Traci (Beth Maitland) chastise someone, but that’s exactly what she does to Diane. Standing up for her brother, Jack, Traci reminds Diane, “You convinced Jack and your son that you were dead! So, maybe you can give Jack a little grace here.” Way to go, Traci! We love that she’s giving Diane a hard truth — and something important to mull over.

Jack had a heartfelt talk with Traci last week

Traci knows exactly why Jack is hurting because they had a heartfelt talk about it last week, before he ran into Diane at the GCAC. He told Traci that he is always trying to live up to their father, John’s (Jerry Douglas), example. He’s always tried to be the good, honorable man that John was.

After John died, Jack tried to take over as the head of the Abbott family. He wanted to protect them from outside forces, like Victor (Eric Braeden). He used to fail, but he kept trying. Jack lamented that he should have made the right choice on the yacht, but he didn’t. “I failed my wife, my son, and myself,” he said. “That is not the person I want to be.”

Maybe Jack should have told Diane all of that? It might not have helped, but it couldn’t have hurt. Traci reminded him that he was entrapped by Patty on the yacht, and she knew that he wouldn’t have had sex with her if he hadn’t been drugged.

Maybe Traci should become GC’s resident therapist?

We don’t get to see Traci on The Young and the Restless nearly as often as we’d like to, but over the past week or so, she’s been a busy lady. She’s been trying to help so many others cope with their problems that maybe she should consider a side career as a therapist? She seems to be even better at it than Sharon (Sharon Case), who is an actual trained therapist. Perhaps Traci could do that in between writing romance novels?

First, we saw her listen to Jack pour his heart out, giving him words of affirmation and encouragement all throughout their talk. Then, Traci lent her support to Lily (Christel Khalil) after Lily received the shocking news about Malcolm’s (Shemar Moore) illness. And next week, we’re going to hear Traci give Diane a hard dose of reality, reminding her that, while Jack may not be perfect, neither is she. That promises to be some must-see, soapy drama!

We hope Diane takes Traci’s words to heart. While the pain of Jack’s infidelity is still raw for her, she does need to be realistic and look at the big picture. She has made her own share of mistakes that Jack could have refused to forgive her for. But instead, he took a risk. He opened his heart to her and chose to forgive her. Overall, he has been a loving husband. Maybe she could soften her own heart toward him as well? We hope so, because it doesn’t feel like their love story is anywhere close to being over yet. Plus, it would be sweet if Jack’s loving sister, Traci, were the one who bridges the gap in his fractured relationship with Diane.
