No one wants to wait for this onscreen pairing to share another offscreen reunion… because this is all just too nostalgic for millennial hearts.

Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson, a.k.a. Joey and Pacey from Dawson’s Creek, walked the red carpet together on Tuesday at the New York Gala screening of Brunello: The Gracious Visionary at Lincoln Center’s David Koch Theatre. The documentary film chronicles the life, philosophy, and career of Italian fashion mogul Brunello Cucinelli, who was supported by Holmes, Jackson, and many other celebrities at the event.

The duo was all smiles as they posed with their arms linked for photographers. Holmes wore a custom Cucinelli white off-the-shoulder top and silver sequin maxi skirt , while Jackson donned a burgundy tuxedo jacket with gray dress pants and a matching bow tie.

Although Holmes and Jackson, both 47, are longtime friends, their chemistry was apparent on the red carpet.

The pair briefly dated while costarring in the beloved teen drama, which aired from 1998 to 2003. In a 1998 profile with Rolling Stone, Holmes was coy about her relationship with Jackson but hinted that he was her “first love.”

“It was something so incredible and indescribable that I will treasure it always,” she said at the time. “And that I feel so fortunate because he’s now one of my best friends. It’s weird, it’s almost like a Dawson-and-Joey type thing now … He’s been in the business so long, and he’s really helped me. I respect him as a friend and as a professional.”

More recently, the duo were at the Dawson’s Creek reunion at New York’s Richard Rodgers Theatre in September 2025 and teamed up on Holmes’ latest directorial effort, Happy Hours. They were spotted filming in New York City last year.

Of the decision to cast him in her movie, Jackson told Today in March that he was flattered.

“And there are these people in your life — she’s a lifelong friend now — and for us to be able to go back and do this again, and, honestly, for her to be able to create that space for us was kind of magical,” he said.

Jackson also spoke about their late costar James Van Der Beek, who died in February after a battle with colorectal cancer. He was a 48-year-old father of six.

“[James] and I shared this very amazing time … and it was formational for us,” Jackson told Today. “I know both of us look back on that time with great fondness, but I will also say that I know that I’m really just a footnote in what he actually accomplished in his life.”

Jackson continued: “He became what we used to just call a good man, a man of the kind of belief, the kind of faith that allowed him to face the impossible with grace, an unbelievable partner and husband, just a real man who showed up for his family and a beautiful, kind, curious, interested, dedicated father.”

Jackson is also a father. After a long-term relationship with Diane Kruger, he married Jodie-Turner Smith in 2019 and they welcomed a daughter in 2020. They filed for divorce in 2023.

Holmes, meanwhile, welcomed daughter Suri, now 19, with ex-husband Tom Cruise before they split in 2012.

She also honored Van Der Beek, sharing her heartbreak over his loss in a handwritten note posted on Instagram in February.

“James, thank you. To share space with your imagination is sacred — breathing the same air in the land of make believe and trusting that each other’s hearts are safe in their expression … these are some of the memories, along with laughter, conversations about life, James Taylor songs — adventures of a unique youth,” she wrote, in part.
