Corrie’s Theo Silverton reveals one murder suspect who would be ‘great’ as the killer
Theo Silverton met his deadly end after his reign of terror
Coronation Street star James Cartwright shares who he would have love to be Theo Silverton’s killer after an explosive murder week.
On Friday (May 1) night, Theo was one of the five possible victims of a murder set to take place on the cobbles, and last week each night saw a different potential victim storyline play out.
Viewers watched as Todd played a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse to outsmart a vengeful Theo, and Summer Spellman found herself caught in the crossfire when she came face-to-face with a sinister Theo.
Soon, outside, a jovial Betsy was given the shock of her life as she stumbled across the villain’s lifeless body. After 18-months of running a horrific campaign of abuse against Todd Grimshaw, Theo met a deadly end.
Although Theo is confirmed as dead, viewers will have to be patient as there’s still a long road ahead until the killer will be revealed in the ITV soap.
Appearing on This Morning during Monday’s (May 4) installment, actor James opened up about his time on the Weatherfield cobbles.
He shared: “Same sex domestic violence has never been done before, we know the lines of a man should never hit a woman. We’re quite clear on that power dynamic, but men and men, even though it shouldn’t, feels a bit grey in people’s minds. Well men fight, that’s what men do, they have a straightener.
“But that isn’t that, and people have come up to me in train stations and different things and said, ‘that’s happened to my friend’, and I think soap does that very, very well because it never ends… In Coronation Street you’ve got the benefit of it being played out slowly over the period so they’ve been able to show it in real time.”
Teasing who he thinks could have killed Theo, he said: “It could be anyone! You’ve got your obvious ones, it could be your Gary’s, there’s one like Summer. George would be a great one to kill him. He’s an undertaker as is. Stick him in a coffin, screw the lid, cremate him, never seen again.”
After his exit, James will now be returning to The Archers – a British radio soap which airs on BBC Radio 4. He shared: “I love The Archers. It’s my wife and Coronation Street has been a glorious affair, and the wife’s forgiven me, she’s taken me back.”
The actor even went onto say he’s had some strong reactions from fans of Corrie when out in public. James added: “There’s a supermarket that’s by my house and I go in, I was doing my self service and it were right busy.
“I was scanning my veggie sausage, and a woman went, ‘Oh, it’s you! Leave Todd alone’. Another woman must have heard and she went, ‘Yeah, leave him alone!’. In context, if you’re a Corrie watcher, great. If not, who’s Todd, what have I done to him?!”
