When Hope told Liam that she’d decided not to defect to Logan and would be staying at Forrester Creations. He was dismayed, while we were struck by her… confidence. She was certain that Brooke would have her way with Ridge and convince him to make her co-CEO of Forrester Creations, which may well be true… at least the having her way with him part. That’s a given.
Anyway, Hope’s unspoken assumption was very clear: When Brooke takes Steffy’s place she would reverse course and put her Hope For the Future line into production immediately. We fear, however, that Hope’s plan has a gaping hole in it.
Starting at the beginning, Hope has quite literally built her, ahem, hopes for the future on a series of assumptions. One being that Ridge will decide to oust Steffy in favor of his wife. First of all, he doesn’t have the power to do that unless he gets dear ol’ dad on board. So, Hope either hasn’t thought about that, or is – once again – assuming Eric will be easily convinced to give his granddaughter the shaft.
Let’s say Ridge and Brooke get Eric on board and the deed is done: Brooke’s installed as co-CEO and Steffy’s demoted. Hope has her gloating moment, and the plan is proceeding swimmingly. This is where the huge hole in her scheme comes into play. Hope assumes that her mother is going to go to bat for her and insist that the Hope For the Future line be put into immediate production without delay. But what if she doesn’t?
Hope did not specify that she expected Brooke to reinstate her line. She is, as we mentioned, assuming that’s what will happen. However, when they touched on Steffy and Ridge delaying Hope For the Future in favor of couture, Brooke told her daughter she understood why the decision had been made and supported it. So, what if Brooke stuns Hope by keeping her line on the shelf? Well, SOAPS readers, let us explain how this hole in the plan could lead to disaster.
If Ridge makes Brooke co-CEO and ousts Steffy, it ain’t gonna be pretty. Steffy would probably walk before she’d agree to answer to Brooke. That’s one big loss for Forrester. If Brooke holds the party line and refuses to put Hope’s line into production, it’s a foregone conclusion that she’ll jump ship to Logan. That’s another one gone.
We’re gonna go ahead and assume that when Thomas gets word of all of this over at International, he’ll be furious. He may agree to design Hope’s new line at Logan, or just quit in solidarity with Steffy. Finally, Bold & Beautiful spoilers have Zende growing frustrated with his role at Forrester as early as this Friday, so the writing is on the wall there as well.
If Ridge chooses Brooke over Steffy it may be a full-on catastrophe for Forrester Creations, due in part to the huge hole in Hope’s plan… and that’s not the only way Brooke’s push for power could backfire!
