Ever since Bold & Beautiful launched Logan and sent Eric back to Forrester Creations, Katie has talked a blue streak about how she needs to start thinking about her next line, specifically who will design it. But instead of interview designers — or remember that she was thisclose to hiring Deke — she has become all about bringing niece Hope aboard. Say it with me: What?!?
In Katie’s estimation, Hope is a fashion icon — and OK, maybe she is, despite the Annie from Toy Story and Lil’ Bo Beep outfits we still haven’t forgotten and the fact that Hope For the Future was shuttered just last year owing to poor sales. The fact remains, Hope isn’t a designer. We don’t even know if she can doodle.
So while it might be nice for Katie to have a celebrity like Hope as the face of Logan, it’s not going to put dresses on sketchpads. Obviously, eventually Hope is going to say, “Hey, I know a great designer. Have you met my brother?”
That, or Zende is finally going to get ticked enough at being thrown scraps by his supposed family that he jumps ship to Logan along with Hope. (We did get a big hint here.) Given that he always gets short shrift at FC — arguably he’s treated more shabbily than even Thorne was — you’ve gotta wonder whether the Forresters will freak the freak out over his defection like they did over Eric’s.
Anyway, the point is, Katie needs a designer, and instead of looking for one, she’s looking for a figurehead. And theoretically, isn’t Katie her own figurehead? Doesn’t she want to be the individual most closely associated with the fashion house that bears her name?
