Brooke has been many things over the years on The Bold and the Beautiful. Chemist, editor, model, designer, CEO, mother, wife, muse — you name it and she’s done it! And with her recent bid to push her way back into the CEO chair, it’s clear Brooke’s not sitting back and ceding ground any time soon!
Over the years, Katherine Kelly Lang has just about done it all in daytime, but now she’s working on a new film in Italy, La Mia Storia Con Te, playing a successful producer. Her character is a woman who is most definitely in charge, but is still beset by uncertainty and doubts! It’s not Lang’s first Italian film, but it sounds like this role struck a chord in her.
In an interview with Popp Dapp News, Lang previews her new character a bit, noting that she’s “intelligent, determined, and resilient, but she also carries doubts, fears, and emotional wounds. I wanted to honor that complexity.” (They also took some stunning photos, which you can check out here!)
As far as why characters like Brooke have resonated with fans for so long, the actress credits it to playing “timeless” characters. They’re ones who feel “real, regardless of the time period or circumstances. Whether she is strong or vulnerable, successful or struggling, people want to see someone they recognize in themselves. Resilience is certainly part of that, but so is imperfection.”
Both of those are traits that, if we’re being honest, Brooke has in spades. She’s been knocked down more times than we can count, but she keeps getting right back up! And as for imperfections… Well, we’re sure Stephanie would have been happy to list them, but we all know that Brooke’s got her blind spots and jealousies. *Cough* Ridge, Katie *Cough*
But for all the similarities, this is not Brooke. Instead, Lang is drawn to projects celebrating “strong women while allowing them to be imperfect, vulnerable, and authentic.” And that we get, especially after she’s spent over four decades doing just that!
