Coronation Street‘s Ronnie Bailey is left conflicted next week when dodgy Fiona Morley makes him a risky offer.
With lots to consider, will he betray his wife Debbie and give in to his former lover’s secret demands?
The drama plays out as Fiona’s gun goes missing following the huge showdown between Ronnie, Tyrone, Carl and Kevin at the garage.
Fiona had instructed Carl to store the weapon in exchange for a huge payout, so she’s furious when she finds out that it’s now nowhere to be seen.
Keen to shield Debbie from any potential trouble, Ronnie intervenes. He finds out that Fiona is willing to let the missing gun go if Ronnie repays her – but she doesn’t want his money! Will Ronnie agree to his ex’s blackmail, whatever the cost to his marriage?
“All Ronnie wants is to protect Debbie,” explains our cobbles insider. “The gun drama completely destabilises Debbie, so he wants Fiona gone. But Fiona has something much more twisted in mind than cash…”
With Debbie in a really bad place mentally after the incident at the garage, Ronnie meets up with Fiona and explains about the missing gun.
However, when Fiona rejects his idea for a pay-off and suggests that Ronnie should pay her back another way, he’s left horrified
Back at the flat, Ronnie tells Debbie that he’s dealt with Fiona and she won’t be darkening their door again. But when Debbie goes for a nap, Ronnie opens up to Carl, trying to figure out what Fiona wants from him.
Will Ronnie go behind Debbie’s back and get involved in Fiona’s next dodgy scheme? Or has Fiona set her sights on rekindling with her old flame Ronnie – and does she plan to use that as leverage?
Speaking recently about Ronnie’s story arc, Vinta Morgan – who plays him – told Inside Soap: “It’s been an interesting ride. I enjoyed his entrance but also the man he is now. He loves the fact that the street that he now lives on has this community feel – he’s slotted right in, he’s developed relationships and he’s found love with Debbie.
“He had a great degree of heartbreak and then in came this eighth wonder of the world, this tour de force, this high energy fashionista, who swept him off his feet and gave him a sense of purpose!”
Discussing Debbie’s dementia diagnosis, he added: “It’s going to be a rough road ahead. Ronnie is the very courageous kind of guy who just jumps into the eye of a storm and always believes he’s going to come out unscathed, but this particular scenario is something where he doesn’t understand fully what he’s about to go through.
“He’s only human and there’s going to be some really challenging times for him. He’s a very proud individual and he doesn’t tend to want to lean on anyone, but sometimes he needs to be fixed himself.
“He’s been leaning on the Baileys but he’s usually the person just like Debbie is for her family – the protector. He’s developing a relationship with Kevin, so I’m sure there’ll be lots of moments where they talk.”
