Nia Sanchez addressed how her husband Danny Booko gets upset when she doesn’t defend him – and shared more details behind his White Claw incident. She also shaded Lala Kent for intervening, as Nia addressed where she stands in the group.
This season on The Valley, Nia initially supported Lala as she called out Danny’s behavior while drinking. But later on, after Lala kept bringing it up, Nia took up for him. At one point, Brittany Cartwright suggested that Danny lied to Nia about having a White Claw at a pool party.
On “Not Skinny But Not Fat,” Nia addressed how Danny gets upset when she doesn’t stick up for him.
“I feel like the way that I show up on camera is how I’m showing up in every day. So I’m not the one to be yelling or [doing] this or that,” she said, via @vanderpodrecaps on Instagram. “I just kind of … keep it a little bit more grounded.”
“Even when it’s Daniel or other people, I’m not easily swayed … unless I feel like [it’s] a good point,” she continued. “I apologize for X, Y, and Z, but generally I’m like, no … this is what I was doing. Like, I know you didn’t feel like I had your back, but I just wanted to keep the energy calm or whatever it is.”
Nia then addressed the insinuation that Danny hid his White Claw from her at the party.
“At that party, that pool party, Daniel and I were outside. He was actually partners with Kristen. I was standing next to him. Brittany was partners, I think, with Melissa. They were playing beer pong while Daniel had a White Claw and was drinking it,” she said. “So I don’t know why two weeks later, Brittany tells Jasmine, ‘I know that Daniel told Nia he wasn’t drinking at my pool party.’”
“You were 10 feet away from him playing beer pong while he was drinking and I was standing next to him,” she explained. “So I’m not sure why things like that were said, except for … painting this picture. … Also, why is Jasmine going to the gym [where she found the White Claw], when she’s taking care of Brittany in her bedroom, and the gym is a completely different room? So all of that’s a little interesting to me.”
Nia said Danny felt like he needed to hide a drink at Zack Wickham’s place (in a different episode) because “every time” he had a drink, “people are talking about it.”
The star was later asked how she felt when Lala intervened during her argument with Danny as he was drinking before the ‘drag contest.’
“In the moment, I think Daniel was like, you’re going to let her talk to me like that? And I was like, well, if you’re not listening to me, maybe you’ll listen to her,” she said. “But then looking back on it, [I realize] the conversation continued to happen.”
“When we were all in the weight room … the editors are great, because I’m like, Jesse’s sitting there getting his makeup done while Lala and Daniel are like going at it. And … those cutaways are hilarious to watch back,” she said. “But even in that moment in the weight room, there’s only so much time that you can put everything together, but there was an apology and a resolution then. And then he apologized [again] the next morning.”
“Even Lala was like, let’s hug it out,” Nia added. “So, when the conversation kept going for weeks and weeks later, based on the same thing, I was like, oh, we’re doing this. … This is gonna be a whole thing.”
According to Nia, she’s in a good place with Jasmine and Brittany – but not Janet Caperna.
“I don’t think we’ll ever be best friends,” she said of Janet.
