Coronation Street spoilers follow from Monday’s episode (18 May), which is available to watch now on ITVX and YouTube but hasn’t aired on ITV1 yet.
Coronation Street‘s Kit Green names Summer Spellman as his new “prime suspect” in Theo Silverton’s murder tonight – and it’s all down to a brooch that could help to crack the case.
When Kit briefly takes some time out from work to look through photos from Lisa and Carla Connor-Swain’s wedding reception, he realises that there’s a crucial clue hiding in plain sight.
Pointing out one of the pictures to Lisa, he says: “She’s wearing the brooch from Todd’s flat. Looks like we’ve got a new prime suspect.”
As Lisa agrees and pops the photo on the evidence board, it’s revealed that Summer is the mystery brooch-wearer in question…
Summer wore the item of jewellery while attending Lisa and Carla’s wedding reception at Underworld.
Just in case you’re struggling to remember the significance of all this, the brooch was previously mentioned on Wednesday 6 May, when George Shuttleworth was being interviewed by police.
At the time, DS Connor-Swain said: “For the tape, I’m showing Mr Shuttleworth a photograph of a brooch that was found at the flat.
“It’s covered in blood – and DNA results to follow. Have you seen this brooch before?”
George replied: “I’ve never seen it before. Given that I’ve never clapped eyes on it in my life, not a clue [who it belongs to].”
We know that Summer was filled with hatred for Theo before he died, but was she really capable of murder?
Harriet Bibby, who plays Summer, recently explained: “I think we’ve seen a lot of level-headed Summer in the past, although she can be quite reactive as well.
“Now that she doesn’t have Billy, and Todd’s been going through what he’s been going through, she’s really had to cement herself and make her own decisions.”
She continued: “So I am really excited to see a different side to Summer and for people to question whether or not she could be capable of doing something like this.
