Nicole Kidman is proving once again why she is the reigning queen of prestige TV.
The 58-year-old Oscar winner was spotted looking every inch the professional as she stepped into the lab coat of Dr. Kay Scarpetta, the world-famous forensic pathologist created by author Patricia Cornwell. The upcoming Amazon Prime Video series, simply titled Scarpetta, marks the first time the beloved literary character has been brought to life on the small screen after decades in “development hell.”
Kidman, known for her transformative roles, reportedly underwent intensive research to portray the methodical and brilliant Chief Medical Examiner. Returning to Virginia in the series, Scarpetta finds herself entangled in a web of secrets, lies, and a gruesome murder case that mirrors a dark chapter from her own past.

A Powerhouse Pairing
Fans are most excited for the onscreen fireworks between Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis, 67. Curtis portrays Dorothy Farinelli, Kay’s capricious and often difficult sister. Sources close to the production describe their chemistry as “electric,” moving between sisterly bond and bitter rivalry.
“Nicole and Jamie Lee are both executive producers on this, and they have poured their hearts into making it authentic,” an insider shared. “The tension between Kay’s cold logic and Dorothy’s chaotic energy is the heartbeat of the show.”
A Star-Studded Mystery
The production has spared no expense with its supporting cast. Bobby Cannavale joins the fray as the rugged Detective Pete Marino, while fellow Aussie Simon Baker stars as FBI profiler Benton Wesley—Kay’s long-time love interest in the novels.
The series will utilize a dual-timeline narrative, with Rosy McEwen playing a younger version of Kay in the 1990s, revealing the origin of her relentless drive for justice.
With its blend of high-tech forensic science and deep-seated family trauma, Scarpetta is already being hailed as the must-watch event of 2026. All eight episodes are set to drop on March 11, 2026, exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
