Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) reaches an incredibly low place in Coronation Street soon, as she spirals in the aftermath of her arrest.
The young woman became the prime suspect in Theo Silverton’s (James Cartwright) murder investigation due to the fact Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) managed to work out that Summer owns the brooch that was found in Theo’s flat.
The theory that Summer killed Theo was fuelled because George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) found her journal. Inside, Summer had detailed her hatred of Theo and how she’d quite like to see the back of him.
When Summer realised that she had become a suspect, she debated running away from Weatherfield to return to her university in America.
But she wasn’t able to leave. Summer is in prison right now, and the fact that she might spend time behind bars for a crime she didn’t commit is completely consuming her mind.
This new spoiler video comes from today’s episode of the ITV soap, which is now available on ITVX and YouTube. It features Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) arriving at the hospital after getting a call about Summer.
She is in hospital after having a hypo, and Todd assumes that it happened because the police officers at the prison didn’t care about Summer’s diabetes.
To Todd’s shock, Summer confirms that she switched her insulin pump off herself, because she didn’t want to be in prison.
Todd tells Summer that it’s important to keep her strength up, alluding to the fact she could go to court in the murder investigation.
Unbeknownst to Summer, one Weatherfield resident knows a piece of information that proves she didn’t kill Theo – but there’s a twist.
Of course there is.
Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) will soon tell Fiz Stape (Jennie McAlpine) that he saw Summer the night of Theo’s murder, and knows she’s not guilty. To Fiz’s horror, she will learn that Tyrone lied to the police to save his own skin.
On the night Theo was killed, Tyrone found Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) tampering with the brakes on Kevin Webster’s (Michael Le Vell) car. He filmed it, but knocked the car jack accidentally, causing it to crush Carl.
If Tyrone tells the police that he saw Summer the night Theo was killed, they will ask him what he was doing. If he reveals the truth, Tyrone could be arrested for attempted murder.
The footage on Tyrone’s phone is very important here, but what will happen to it? Could Fiz delete it?
Will Tyrone take a risk and tell the police that Summer is innocent?
