In anticipation of Shemar Moore and Vivica A. Fox’s Young & Restless returns, the show had the tag team wax nostalgic about bygone days. And man, did they bring the memories flooding back. (Even if they hadn’t, as you’ll see in the videos below, the flashbacks would have! Such babies they were!)
Moore, who has brought Malcolm back to Genoa City a number of times since he won his Emmy and took primetime by storm, couldn’t help but chuckle as he recalled his audition for the show’s late, great co-creator, William J. Bell. “He looked at me on that given day and said, ‘The kid is scared to death, but he’s halfway good-looking, he’s got a six-pack, and he seems like he’s got something,’ so he took a chance on me and I’m so grateful.”

Aren’t we all! Reuniting with former leading lady Fox — who he said has always called him “Shemarsky” — has been a delight for Moore. Back when she was Stephanie to his Malcolm, “we were young and thought we were all that and a bag of chips,” he smiled. “We still think we’re a little something-something.”
No argument here. Working together again, he added, it feels “like it was yesterday that we did this.”
Fox admitted that she was surprised to get the call that Young & Restless wanted her to scrub in as doc Stephanie again. (Refresh your memory about the character here.) But “it was absolutely a no-brainer to come back.”
By the time she first joined the soap, her on-screen love interest was already a capital B-D Big Deal. “Shemar was hot off the block, baby,” she said. “I can remember me and Shemar both being so young but [having] a lot of presence, a lot of chemistry.”
We’ll be damned if those flashbacks don’t remind us just how much chemistry they had. How did Malcolm and Stephanie not go on to be one of the soap’s greatest supercouples? Maybe this time around.
