Coronation Street‘s Gary Windass faces even more trouble next week, when his wife Maria Connor becomes convinced that he’s having an affair with his ex-fiancée Sarah Platt. And the situation could get even more messy, as Kit Green is plotting a surprise proposal…
Maria already has a sinking feeling that her hubby is hiding something, given his shifty behaviour since Theo Silverton’s death. But Maria finally believes she has concrete evidence when she sees him hugging Sarah, before they discuss deleting all their messages to each other…
“Gary has been so busy trying to give the police the slip, he’s forgotten to take care of business at home,” warns our Corrie insider. “Now, he has Weatherfield police on his tail and a furious wife who is demanding answers.
“Given that Maria is so loyal that she gave the cops a false alibi to help him out, Gary should be keeping her sweet. Instead, he’s managed to put his entire marriage on the line.”
While one relationship is hanging by a thread, another is set to become rock solid thanks to Kit Green’s new perspective on his romance with Sarah. They’ve been living together for a while now, but Sarah’s recent ordeal has confirmed to Kit that he’s really serious about their future and that he wants to make it official.
He confides in Bethany that he wants to pop the question, interested to see what she’d make of his plan. Kit wants both Sarah’s children to approve, so it’s important to him to get their blessing. But are his romantic dreams about to be shattered thanks to a renewed connection between Sarah and ex-love Gary?
“This has the potential to get very messy indeed, and Gary really doesn’t need Kit to have another reason to be gunning for him,” continues our spy. “Kit has been surprised by how hard he’s fallen for Sarah, and he thinks they could have a great life together.
“Imagine if all those hopes and dreams are dashed by one of the main suspects in the murder case that Kit is investigating!”
As Kit goes ring shopping, Maria has confided to her friends that she’s worried Gary has been playing away with Sarah. Fiz Dobbs and Izzy Armstrong are shocked to hear her suspicions, but Todd Grimshaw goes straight to Sarah to warn her of what’s coming her way.
As Todd implores his best friend to come clean about what’s going on, Gary makes a move to put Maria’s mind at rest by booking a family holiday. He hopes his big gesture will show his love and commitment and reassure his wife that he’s totally committed to their family.
“Rather than be bowled over by the surprise, Maria takes this as more evidence that he has something to atone for,” confirms our source. “She tells Izzy that, rather than be reassured by Gary’s holiday surprise, it makes her fear that she’s been right about him and Sarah all along…”
As their secret threatens to ruin everything Gary and Sarah have built in their lives, the former couple have some big decisions to make. But can they make it out of this nightmare scenario with their significant others by their side?
