Coronation Street fans may have picked up on the absence of Platt family matriarch Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) over the past few months, but the ITV soap hasn’t forgotten about her.
Audrey was last seen in November 2025, and it has since been mentioned that she has been staying with Gail Platt in France.
In April 2026, David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) gave Gail a ring to wish her a happy birthday, and asked her to ‘send his love to Gran’.
Now, it is Audrey’s turn to receive birthday wishes, as the Platts film a video to send her in Monday night’s episode.
This confirms that Audrey is still away from home, and suggests she may not be back as the Platt family’s lives descend into chaos once more.
It’s a big week for the family next week when Sarah Platt’s (Tina O’Brien) killer secret finally catches up with her.
Viewers will know that Sarah killed Theo Silverton earlier this year. The pair had a vicious confrontation on the scaffolding outside his flat, which ended with Sarah hitting him with a metal bar and knocking him to the ground below.
She recently came clean about her actions to detective constable boyfriend Kit Green (Jacob Roberts), and next week, he tries to extract information on the investigation from McClaughlin.
He gets nothing from the interaction, but does raise McClaughlin’s suspicions.
Though Kit is sure that the evidence is pointing to Gary Windass (Mikey North) and Sarah is in the clear, when the Platts finish their video for Audrey, the police arrive to arrest Sarah.
Later in the week, Sarah is charged with Theo’s murder, and Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) warns Kit that they think he is involved too, and if he wants to keep his job, he needs to stop protecting Sarah.
How will the Platts react to Sarah’s situation? Will this disaster be enough to bring Audrey back to Weatherfield?
