On the January 22, 2026, episode of The Young and the Restless, Victor kicked Jack out of his home, Victoria used Cane’s children to get to him, and Billy accepted Cane’s offer to control Chancellor.
What happened on The Young and the Restless

Sally and Billy continued their disagreement about his desire to accept Cane’s offer to control Chancellor. Billy was adamant that Cane wanted him to have Chancellor because he trusted him. Sally reminded Billy that they had discussed this the previous day, and Billy had committed himself to Abbott Communications.
Billy told Sally that he hadn’t given Cane a final answer, but Sally knew that his mind was made up. Sally stated that she refused to stay in the way of what he wanted. Billy didn’t think he was doing anything wrong by accepting Chancellor from Cane.
Sally essentially accused Billy of wanting to be a white knight to save the company from the evil Newman family. Billy downplayed Sally’s concerns, but she wasn’t as confident. He promised that he’d still be available at Abbott Communications, but that wasn’t what concerned Sally. She didn’t need Billy to herself. Her worry went far deeper.
Billy asked whether they were in trouble, and she explained that the path he had taken concerned her. Sally knew that Billy’s mind was made up, so she told him that her eventual decision would be hers alone to make.
Later that morning, Billy sat alone at the café and thought back to the promises he had made to Sally. At Crimson Lights, Sally did the same. She recalled how Billy had vowed that Chancellor would never be part of his endgame, which was a blatant lie.

Tensions rose between Phyllis and Cane on the train after he claimed that his opinion was the only one that mattered. Cane knew that certain divisions needed to be delegated, and he believed Billy was best for Chancellor. Victoria barged onto the train and told Cane that he’d only assume full control of Newman over her dead body.
Victoria disclosed that she spoke to Lily before boarding the train. Cane was furious because he believed Lily should remain off-limits. Victoria told both Lily and Mattie what Cane had done to Newman Enterprises. Lily was horrified by the news, and his children were heartbroken.
Victoria also spoke to Charlie, and she claimed that he was on the verge of giving Cane a second chance before he learned about the Newman attack. Lily and the twins now believed that his redemption tour was full of nothing but lies, and they wished they had written him off soon. Victoria gloated that Cane had now lost everything.
Phyllis stepped in and reminded Victoria that her father had done the same throughout his career. She believed that Newman was built on the backs of the companies that Victor destroyed in his past.
Victoria told Cane and Phyllis that she filed an FTC complaint against them, so they’d be investigated soon. However, they reminded Victoria that they used the same software to attack Cane’s company, so that made no sense.
Cane reminded Victoria that Victor was paying the price for something that he had caused. He wasn’t worried about Victoria using Lily or the twins to get back at him. Victoria accused Cane of losing his soul, something she assumed happened when Lily rejected him.
On her way out, Victoria shouted at Phyllis about how Nick had defended her countless times to her family. Phyllis wasn’t shaken by her comments. She remarked that she was lucky to be able to take over Newman without ever sitting through a stuffy family dinner at the ranch.
Billy showed up on the train, and he asked Cane if the coup was complete. Phyllis told him that it was none of his business, but Billy believed that it was. It appeared as if he was finally ready to take over Chancellor and reclaim his throne.
Phyllis told Cane that they needed to babysit Billy if they brought him into the fold. Billy gave Cane an official yes on Chancellor, and he asked if Phyllis could stop him from assuming control.

Nick woke up on Sharon’s couch, still in severe pain from his leg injury. Sharon came downstairs and wondered why he wasn’t in the guest room. She asked if he had been in the living room all night, but Nick had no clue.
Sharon apologized for not checking on Nick throughout the night, but she was exhausted. She thought that she should have stayed awake after Nick went outside to get some air. Nick flashed back to the previous night, and he remembered finding the pills in his jacket pocket.
Sharon asked whether Nick’s story about passing out was true. Nick had no idea, but he was pleased that Matt Clark had been handled. Sharon was appreciative that they finally got closure, but it was a new day, and time to move on. She asked if Nick needed help getting ready to go to the hospital, which she had grown tired of debating with him.
Nick agreed to return to the hospital, which eased Sharon’s mind. Nick wanted to speak to Victor before getting checked out, so he could find out what his father did with Matt. Sharon didn’t think Nick could help with anything in his current condition.

Victor loudly shut the door, so Jack and Nikki were well aware of his arrival. He asked what was going on and demanded that Jack “Get your hands off my wife.” Victor thought that Jack was there to gloat about Newman falling to pieces because of Cane.
Victor ordered Jack to leave his home immediately. He said, “Get out of the house.” Jack worried that Nikki wouldn’t be okay, but Nikki assured him that it was fine. He told Victor to have the day that he deserved and left, but not before he ran into Adam and Chelsea on his way out.
Victor asked Adam for an update, and they had put out a hit piece on Cane and Phyllis, essentially accusing them of computer fraud. Nikki worried about how this would come back on them, since they had had the software to begin with. However, everything was cleared with legal, so it shouldn’t be an issue.
Nick, barely able to walk, showed up at Victor’s house, and he wanted to help the family. He learned that Phyllis and Cane’s attack amounted to giving away their assets, and it made it look as if they had willingly allowed it to happen.
Everyone had spoken to Phyllis, and she didn’t care one bit. The family was worried about Nick’s condition, but he refused to listen to their concerns. Victoria asked if Jack was involved in the attack, but Nikki refuted those claims.
Nick asked Victor for an update on what happened with Matt Clark. Victor didn’t directly reveal what he did with Matt, but he said that it had to be him. Nick wanted to help his father through the crisis involving Cane and Phyllis, and asked that it be done the same way he did with Matt.
Victor called Jill and reminded her that he would reach out to her once Cane crossed a line. He asked her to return his call as soon as possible.

Diane and Kyle did damage control to help get Jabot back online. Diane wanted to focus on getting products back in the stores, and Kyle wanted to use Newman Media’s expose about Jabot to throw Newman under the bus. Diane and Kyle toasted to the downfall of Victor, pleased that he finally got what he had coming.
Kyle didn’t want to celebrate too soon. He had seen Newman avoid total collapse before, so he wasn’t convinced it was the end. Diane discussed what Michael told her about the attack on Newman, so unlike her son, she was confident in the permanence of the downfall.
Jack joined Kyle and Diane at Society, and he confirmed that their attack on Newman was legitimate. Every part of the Newman empire was on the verge of destruction. They all worried about Billy’s desire to take over Chancellor. Once Victor found out about Billy’s involvement, he would lose his mind on a level they’d never seen before.
