Bob Mortimer revealed the truth about his ‘enhanced’ new appearance on Sunday’s episode of Gone Fishing after his recent health battle – and his pal Paul Whitehouse didn’t hold back with his response.
The eighth series of the much-loved BBC Two show, which sees comedians Paul and Bob travel the UK for a spot of fishing, returned to our screens last night (October 26 2025).
Sunday’s instalment saw the duo travel to the River Itchen in Hampshire and it wasn’t long before the funnyman pointed out his new look.
Bob asked his co-star: ‘Do you like my new teeth?’
Paul replied: ‘Yeah, it’s nice. Where’d you get them done?’ to which Bob replied: ‘Dentist…’
‘But where?’ Paul continued. ‘Turkey? That’s what they say – Turkey teeth. What did you ask for?’

Bob Mortimer revealed the truth about his ‘enhanced’ new appearance on Sunday’s episode of Gone Fishing after his health battle – and pal Paul Whitehouse’s response was BRUTAL

The eighth series of the much-loved BBC2 show, which sees comedians Paul and Bob travel the UK for a spot of fishing, returned to our screens last night (26 October 2025)
Bob replied: ‘Can I have some teeth that work… Listen!’
He then started to chatter his gnashers together and asked: ‘Can you do that with your teeth? No because they’d crumble wouldn’t they? They’d crumble like an Edinburgh rock.’
Before catching up with actor James Murray, to chat about his campaign to save the salmon, the pair enjoyed a bite to eat and caught up over breakfast.
Bob asked Paul: ‘How’s your heath by the way?’ to which Paul replied: ‘Pretty good Bob.’
He then went on to ask if he still hand shingles.
Shingles is an infection that causes a painful rash, according to the NHS.
Bob confessed: ‘Yeah, it’s messed up my muscles in my leg, but you have to have an attitude of gratitude, it could be so much worse…
‘I mean look at your face, you’ve got to look at that every morning!’

Bob asked his co-star: ‘Do you like my new teeth?’ as he grinned at him with a huge smile on his face

The funnyman also shocked his pal by showing him how long his new gnashers are

‘Oh no!’ Paul shouted in shock as he pretended to be a horse
Paul told him: ‘At least you’ve enhanced your teeth, haven’t you?’ as he pretended to be blinded by how white they were.
Bob then shocked his pal by showing him how long his new teeth are.

Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing first hit our screens back in 2018.
There have been 49 episodes across seven successful series, and the eighth is currently playing out on our screens.
Speaking about his shingles ahead of the new series, Bob said: ‘I’m still suffering very much with recovering from shingles. I lost a lot of muscle, an awful lot of muscle in my legs, and I’m just desperately trying to get some strength back in them. But it doesn’t really, change my lifestyle or anything.
‘I mean, I can’t run but I don’t do that much running these days, so it’s not a problem.
‘Both me and Paul in the series are discussing the fact, quite a few times, that we’re beginning to feel our age.
‘We’re not as fast, we’re not as strong, we’re forgetting things. We’re a bit more grumpy.
‘We look physically a lot different from the first seasons that’s for sure! We’ve aged. As has Ted!’
Bob first opened up about his diagnosis in 2022.
