Coronation Street’s Carla Connor and Lisa Swain dealt baby surprise ahead of wedding
The couple are, quite literally, left holding the baby in upcoming scenes for the ITV soap

Carla Connor and Lisa Swain are set to be dealt a huge baby-shaped surprise in upcoming Coronation Street scenes as they plan their wedding day.
As those who follow the ITV soap know, things are looking up for the couple following their recent reunion, which came after their relationship was momentarily derailed by the arrival of Lisa’s ex-wife, Becky Swain.
From Carla’s ill health and the return of her brother, Rob Donovan, to Lisa struggling to get over her past, the pair hadn’t had the easiest start to their relationship.
But just as things started to look up, with Lisa popping the question and moving into their first home, No.6 Coronation Street, their future was flipped upside down once again as Lisa’s past quite literally came back to haunt them with the return Becky, who was presumed to have died in the line of duty.
Despite Becky’s almost-successful attempts at pulling the couple apart, and convincing Lisa and their daughter, Betsy Swain, to leave the country with her, the villain was stopped in her tracks, thanks to Carla teaming up with Lisa’s colleague, DC Kit Green, before she was kidnapped by Becky.
The unlikely duo were able to stop Becky in her tracks – but after she had already been involved in a horrific car crash on the way to Hull to catch a ferry to Rotterdam. Thankfully, Lisa and Betsy survived, as did Becky. But while her future is quite bleak after Lisa, despite being treated in an ambulance, arrested her, and she’s since been sentenced to 12 years for her crimes, things are looking up for Lisa and Carla.
Following their reunion, Carla has since surprised Lisa, by booking their wedding date, April 23 to be exact, at the Chariot Square Hotel, and while it appears their upcoming nuptials will be plain sailing for the two women after quite a dramatic few months for their relationship, their ‘beautiful’ wedding day will end with a shock for poor Betsy as Lisa’s daughter discovers one of her neighbours dead on the cobbles.
But, before all that, new Corrie spoilers have revealed that Carla and Lisa are set to be rocked by another surprise arrival, this time Carla’s baby niece, Connie.

Fans will recall that Carla’s brother Rob Donovan tried to escape prison last year after becoming a kidney donor for hist sister and by striking up a relationship with prison guard, Mandy, she was able to help him break free. However, Rob showed his true colours and Mandy was heartbroken to discover Rob wasn’t really interested in her – but was already pregnant with his child.
Mandy hasn’t been seen since but next week, Carla opens the door and is shocked to find a baby in a car seat on the doorstep. Lisa goes after the woman hurrying away, only to discover the baby is Connie, the daughter of Rob and Mandy.
The baby’s grandmother explains that she needs them to look after Connie while she’s in hospital, but Carla refuses point blank, despite Lisa spelling out that she’s Connie’s auntie and without her she’ll end up in care.
It seems Lisa’s words contribute to a change of heart, as later, having been woken up early by Connie, will a bleary-eyed Carla, Lisa, Betsy and Ryan Connor accept that this is their new routine?
As their time together progresses, Carla bounces Connie on her knee as they watch TV together and Lisa wonders if she’s making a breakthrough. Meanwhile, Sally tries to offer Carla and Lisa parenting tips, but they make it clear they’re not interested.
