Seven things you need to know about what’s happening in Coronation Street next week

• Carl Webster is scheming to steal money from his sister Debbie, transferring funds from her account. Meanwhile, Debbie ignores a text from Elaine as she prepares for her hen party, which is organized by friends Sally, Christina, Glenda, and Bernie.
• Over at the stag do, Ronnie Bailey reveals Debbie wants him to have power of attorney over her finances, leaving Carl upset. He then receives a distressing phone call and later tells James Bailey that his mother died, leading to regretful actions.
• James threatens to reveal Carl’s secrets to Abi, but Carl tries to win him over. Soon, Abi leaves her hen party after a call from Carl. Later, Carl and James get intimate at Abi’s flat, while Abi is away.
• Meanwhile, Susie Price tells Eva Price and Ben Driscoll she wants a sibling and while Ben is pleased, Eva is unsettled. Carl tells Maggie Driscoll about Eva’s credit card being found in a hotel, to which Ben explains his son Will used it. Eva, meanwhile, confides in Adam Barlow about lying to Ben and Adam encourages her to write a letter about her feelings. Maggie, suspicious, finds Eva’s letter and insists Adam and Alya join the family for Christmas dinner.
• On Christmas Day, tensions rise at the Driscoll family dinner, with Maggie and Will both upset. Adam gives Alya a necklace and suggests moving in together; Eva realizes her letter is missing. During Secret Santa, Ben is shocked by his gift; the next day, a resident is found attacked and left for dead.
• Elsewhere, Lisa Swain is hurt by Carla Connor’s social media posts after Carla wants her name off the mortgage. Lisa learns DI Costello is improving, leaving Becky, panicked. She then impersonates Lisa to take Costello from the hospital. Becky tries to rekindle romance with Lisa, but Lisa texts Carla, expressing her love. On Christmas Day, Lisa is worried when Roy Cropper says Carla never checked into her hotel in Spain.
• Also, Theo Silverton invites friends for Christmas dinner with Todd Grimshaw. But tension rises as Theo loses his temper and smashes a wine glass during charades.
