Coronation Street Chaos: Fans Catch a Comedy-Level Mistake That Viewers Can’t Stop Laughing At

Coronation Street fans spot hilarious blunder on ITV soap

Iconic soap Coronation Street first aired back in 1960 and has been a staple on our screens for the last 55 years, with plenty of dramatic storylines being aired

Coronation Street fans spotted a hilarious blunder on the ITV soap this week. During a scene Gemma was working in the shop on the iconic soap when she was seen scanning an empty sandwich box that clearly had no barcode on it. It seemed that she took her acting to the next level but eagle eyed viewers instantly spotted the mistake.

Fans of the show took to social media to share their thoughts on the accident. One person wrote on a TikTok clip of the moment: “What did she scan?” While another then replied: “The empty sandwich box [laughing emojis].” While another then joked: “Invisible bar code… I do the same in Asda.”

However, one fan wasn’t impressed with the blunder as one said: “Does my head in, especially with the blatant empty coffee cups at least have water in them? It’s so jarring.”

This isn’t the first time that Coronation Street bosses have made a similar mistake in one of Weatherfield’s shops. Dev’s store is known for being one of the most iconic stores in the soap.

It is a local shop and not a chain supermarket, but there was one moment which viewers noticed didn’t make sense. Fans were left stunned when they spotted something that shouldn’t be on Dev’s shelves. At the time a viewer posted on Reddit: “Watching Corrie and see there are Sainsbury’s nappies in Dev’s shop! Really?”

This comes as Corrie’s vicar Coronation Street’s vicar Billy Mayhew is set to be leaving the cobbles soon. Despite this, the actor who plays him, Daniel Brocklebank, says he hasn’t shed a tear about leaving due to being so busy.

Just forty minutes after receiving uproarious applause from 150 members of the cast and crew, he sped down the cobbles to a Manchester theatre to join rehearsals for his next role in the cult comedy classic Young Frankenstein.

“I don’t think I’ve ever finished one job and started another one on the same day,” he laughed. “I walked out of the Coronation Street studio at ten to one on Tuesday last week and I was at the theatre and in rehearsals for Young Frankenstein by half past one. My feet literally didn’t touch the ground.

“I’m in Young Frankenstein for five weeks and after that I might be able to process things. It is a big change after 11 years in one place; it’s a lot to get your head around. I will miss Billy.”

Daniel’s departure from the show was announced back in the summer, but he says he’d been thinking about for 12 months.

“I’d spoken to my other half and said ‘maybe it’s time,'” he recalls. “As an actor, I enjoy being challenged and I was very quiet in the last year there. After the Motor Neurone Disease storyline, which is probably the thing I’m most proud of, I wondered really what was left for Billy.”
