There’s some major twists planned on Coronation Street this Christmas, and fans can expect explosive scenes.

Corrie star Catherine Tyldesley has let slip new details, revealing a “big shock” for her character Eva Price on Christmas Day. Not only that, but the actress mentioned “two attacks” as Christmas for the Driscolls will take a dark turn.

With Eva’s mother-in-law Maggie Driscoll not keen on her, a secret leads to her planning to oust Eva from the family. As she takes a dramatic revenge, the family gave all kinds of carnage, while for one resident there’s danger ahead.

Eva will face some unexpected scenes, as she’s forced to face up to something she has been hiding from husband Ben Driscoll. Catherine shared: “It’s a big shock. Christmas is supposed to be that time where seemingly everyone is supposed to get on.

“You hang out with friends and family, and everything’s supposed to be lovely, but it’s not like that in Weatherfield on Christmas Day! So, yeah, it’s a big shock!

“There are two attacks connected to the Driscoll family, it isn’t exactly how any of them envisaged their first Christmas in the Rovers.” it seems the first ‘attack’ is Maggie’s revenge, while the second sees someone left for dead.

But Catherine is thrilled to be centre stage this festive period on the show, a few months on from her big return to the ITV soap. Catherine reprised the role after leaving in 2018, and now she and the Driscolls have set-up home in The Rovers.

Catherine shared: “I’m thrilled, I love the soaps at Christmas. You’ve got to tune in on Christmas Day, haven’t you? You know that it’s going to be pretty explosive.

“And so, I was just absolutely chuffed to bits that they wanted to run that storyline for Christmas Day, and we had a lot of fun doing the storyline. I’m obsessed with Christmas, so it was nice to start Christmas super early.

“And I’ve got to say as well, Aaron and Pauline are just absolutely outstanding in their performances on Christmas Day. They really are. So it was a real treat.” It’s safe to say Catherine’s own Christmas will be a little different to her character’s day.

She shared: “I do have something in common with Eva in that we both want family around us at Christmas, we are both very family orientated and see Christmas as a time for everyone to come together. But Eva is far more glam than me on Christmas Day.

“I prefer to slob around in my comfies and relax whereas she is very much ‘Christmas ready’ with her clothes, hair and make-up. But all she wants is for everyone to have a fabulous time, I feel quite sad that it doesn’t turn out the way she wanted.”
