Coronation Street fans rumble Carla Connor’s worrying future as she ‘seals’ fate
The Underworld factory boss doesn’t look set to have a happy Christmas in the ITV soap, if Becky Swain has anything to do with it
Coronation Street fans have rumbled Carla Connor’s worrying future after spotting a clue as to where she’ll end up this festive season.
The Underworld factory boss doesn’t look set to have a happy Christmas following her recent split from fiancée Lisa Swain. It’s only been a year since the couple, dubbed ‘Swarla’, gave into their feelings for one another.
But as those who follow the ITV soap know, that didn’t have the easiest of times, with 2025 kicking off with Carla’s ill health as she contracted sepsis and needed another kidney transplant, which resulted in her murderer brother, Rob Donovan, coming back into her life.
Things then started looking up for the couple, with the pair moving into their first home, No.6 Coronation Street, together, before, after a number of failed proposals, Lisa popped the question to Carla and they got engaged.
But Swarla fans have since left been infuriated by the arrival of the new character, which occurred back in September, almost four years after Lisa believed her partner had been killed in the line of duty.
Becky made a sudden appearance, claiming she had been put in witness protection after an undercover operation went wrong, happened on Betsy’s 18th birthday and it’s fair to say Lisa was stunned, with it also revealed that DI Costello was in on faking Becky’s death.
And Becky has since been getting in between Lisa and Carla, with a clear intention to get her family back together – whatever it takes – and she’s already succeeded in splitting them up, as Carla, feeling pushed aside by her partner, called time on her and Lisa’s relationship.
But Carla is now working with Lisa’s colleague, DC Kit Green, to try and get to the bottom of what Becky and Costello have been hiding for all this time. However, Costello now being in hospital having been subject to a brutal attack is making things more difficult.
During Wednesday’s (December 10) episode of Corrie, Kit headed to No.6 and revealed that Costello was set to retire in September before Becky’s return. He went on to speak to Carla, telling her they need to stick their plan to expose the bent coppers.
After leaving the factory, Kit bumped into Becky and told her that Carla was drinking herself silly, and that she should tell Lisa to go visit her. However, Becky paid her a visit instead and smugly revealed that she intended to win Lisa back, whatever it took, and that she’d got her way.
But when Carla returned to No.6, Becky was quick to protest Carla was drunk, but she confirmed she was completely sober and that she’d just pretended in order to record Becky’s confession. However, it appeared Lisa didn’t really want to listen, feeling like a pawn in Becky and Carla’s game.
But Carla told Becky that she was ‘stubborn’ and wouldn’t be phased by this setback, before she paid her own visit to Costello, where he woke up and confirmed Becky was behind his attack, and gave her the words ‘Rhubarb Hill’, seemingly a clue to what she and Kit are trying to expose.
And the comments quickly left Corrie fans fearing for Carla, who is seemingly set to disappear this Christmas, with her loved ones led to believe she’s living it up in Lanzarote, as they think she’s sealed her own fate.
@swoosh286 said: “Rhubarb Hill is obviously where Costello’s house is situated in the Lakes and exactly where Carla is going to be held hostage! The pieces of the puzzle are slowly all falling into place; one by one… #swarla.” @DSSwainsShirt commented: “So Carla was hoping for a knockout blow and all she’s done instead is play her cards too early and open up war with BS. Cue dark Becky and kidnapped Carla #Swarla.”
@TVMusings22 posted: “So I guess Carla’s getting kidnapped Friday? Becky knows she’s on borrowed time What with Kit aswell she’s probably worked out they’re conspiring against her… She gotta remove those obstacles starting with Carla. #Corrie.” @sadpphicss wrote: “‘I’m a stubborn cow’ CARLA, I LOVE YOU, BABY!!! That’s most likely what got you kidnapped, but I love you so much.”
@cedecupcake echoed: “100% this is the sign of Carla getting kidnapped again.”@hollsswarla added: “Carla getting herself kidnapped because of her gob but yet saving herself without even knowing it yet with those three words. Queen of the cobbles for a reason.”
