The Ultimate Bistro Ambush: Hope and Ruby Steal Tyrone’s DNA to Hunt Down Long-Lost Dad Ross Wilkes!
A massive family bombshell is about to explode over a bowl of pasta next week on Coronation Street. Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) is about to experience the ultimate parenting whiplash—losing his mother Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) as she departs Weatherfield this summer, only to immediately gain a biological father thanks to some seriously illegal meddling from his own daughters!
Saying Tyrone has a complicated family tree is a bit like saying his former mother-in-law has a slight temper. Raised by the chaotic Jackie and Darren Dobbs, Tyrone didn’t even meet his estranged birth mom, Cassie, until 2023. While their relationship started in the gutters of her drug addiction, Cassie eventually cleaned up her act, became a staple at the Street Cars switchboard, and fell into a hilarious romance with Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson).
But with actress Claire Sweeney officially bowing out of the ITV soap this year to star in Annie! the musical, Cassie’s exit paves the way for a brand-new patriarch: Ross Wilkes.
“Say Hello to Daddy!” — The Most Awkward Dinner in Soap History
Played by veteran EastEnders and The Bill actor Ian Burfield, Tyrone’s biological dad is dragged into the spotlight by ultimate sibling schemers Hope Stape (Isabella Flanagan) and Ruby Dobbs (Billie Naylor).
In an exclusive sneak peek clip, the Dobbs family are enjoying what Tyrone thinks is a normal dinner at the Viaduct Bistro. Unceremoniously, the girls drop a nuclear bomb on the table. They proudly reveal that they stole a sample of Tyrone’s DNA, sent it off to a genealogy website, and successfully tracked down his biological father.
The horror intensifies when the mischievous girls admit they didn’t just find him—they catfished him! The duo used Tyrone’s name to message Ross, leading the older man to believe his long-lost son was desperate for a reunion.
Right on cue, Ross enters the Bistro. Before a completely paralyzed Tyrone can even process the violation of privacy, Ruby proudly beams: “Say hello to Daddy!”
Domestics and Drama: What’s Next for Fiz and Tyrone?
Earlier this year, Coronation Street executive producer Kate Brooks teased that Ross’s arrival is going to completely upend the dynamics at No. 9. While Tyrone is firmly in the mindset of “I’m in my 40s, I’ve survived this long without a dad,” Ross is fiercely determined to force a connection.
But a father-son relationship isn’t the only thing Ross is looking for. Brooks hinted that the newcomer is set to stir up plenty of neighborhood gossip:
“It’s not long before the dad makes eyes at one of the residents, and maybe a bit of a relationship starts there,” Brooks revealed. “It’s very domesticated. It really shines a spotlight on Fiz and Tyrone as a couple and that dynamic as a family.”
Will Tyrone accept this rogue addition to his family tree, or will the girls’ DNA scheme tear No. 9 apart? Grab your popcorn, because Monday’s episode is going to be incredibly awkward!
