Neighbours is officially signing off for good today as Ramsay Street prepares to say its final farewell — three years after the Australian soap was first axed and then dramatically revived by Amazon.
The iconic series, which first aired 40 years ago, was scrapped in 2022 after 37 years on TV. Its unexpected comeback under Amazon’s Freevee banner brought fans hope, but the revival was short-lived. As The Sun previously revealed, Amazon decided to axe the reboot after just two years, bringing the beloved show to an end once more.

Filming wrapped in July, with the cast gathering for one last emotional photoshoot to mark the end of a four-decade legacy. The final episode will drop at 7am today (December 11), closing a chapter that shaped generations of viewers.
Fans hoping for a repeat of the star-studded 2022 finale will be disappointed. That episode famously reunited Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan on Ramsay Street — along with a wave of A-list alumni returning to honour their roots. A source explained that the 2022 stars “waived their usual million-dollar fees and felt like they were waving goodbye to the show that launched them.”
This time, however, efforts to secure big-name cameos reportedly fell flat. According to Daily Mail Australia, Hollywood favourites Margot Robbie, Guy Pearce, Russell Crowe and Natalie Imbruglia were all approached but ultimately declined to take part.

An insider said the cast would need to rely on strong storylines rather than star power, adding: “The cast of the current season will need to rely on the storylines that involve their characters, because breaking out the cheque book won’t cover it.”
Looking back, the source added that learning Neighbours was saved while its legacy cast were still on the global “farewell tour” now feels “pretty awkward in retrospect.”
Despite the ups and downs, today marks the definitive end of a TV institution — one final sunrise over Ramsay Street before the curtains close forever.
