Coronation Street star Liam McCheyne has shared that he is embarking on a personal challenge bearing a close connection to his character’s storyline on the soap.
The young actor, known for the role of Dylan Wilson on Corrie, took to Instagram to announce he’d be running the Manchester marathon to raise funds for a charity that’s doing “unbelievable work”.
“Now, I don’t usually do videos like this, but I have a massive favour to ask and I really hope that you can help,” McCheyne began addressing his followers in a clip posted yesterday.
“I’ve signed up to do the Manchester Marathon. I signed up last week, so I’m really cutting it short,” he said of the sports event taking place on Sunday, 19 April.
“I’ve got two weeks to train, I’m gonna give it my best shot,” he added.
The soap star explained he’s running to raise money for Charlie’s Promise, an organisation dedicated to putting an end to knife crime in the UK in memory of teen Charlie Cosser, who was stabbed to death at a party in 2023.
“The charity I’m gonna be doing it for is Charlie’s Promise, which means a heck of a lot to me,” McCheyne said.
“We did a lot of work with them when we did the knife prevention story on Corrie,” he continued, hinting at his character Dylan Wilson’s storyline across 2024 and 2025.
