Jesy Nelson has melted hearts once again with a tender video of her baby daughter, Story Monroe, following the devastating SMA Type 1 diagnosis that has turned her life upside down. The singer, 34, shared this emotional update with her fans after revealing in January that her twin daughters, including Ocean Jade, were both diagnosed with this life-threatening condition.

In the clip, posted on her Instagram Story, Jesy lovingly strokes Story’s head as she softly says, “Story, say Mumma. Can you say Mumma?” The baby, with a sweet look, just gazes back at her mum, making Jesy laugh. She jokingly captions the video: “Yeah not happening!” accompanied by a laughing emoji.

Since the announcement, Jesy has been keeping her fans updated with the rollercoaster of emotions as she navigates life with her twins’ health battle. In earlier posts, Jesy bravely revealed that if not treated early enough, SMA Type 1 can drastically shorten a baby’s life expectancy, making the need for treatment urgent.

Jesy explained that it was her mum, Janice, who first noticed the girls’ lack of movement in their legs, which led to their eventual diagnosis. The twins had been premature, and Jesy had been reassured by doctors that she shouldn’t worry too much about their milestones. But when the symptoms persisted, they got the heartbreaking news.

Most recently, Jesy posted another touching update, where she filmed her twin daughters doing their “ballerina” exercises. She encouraged them by saying, “Are you gonna show them how you move your legs? You’re a little ballerina, come on!” The sight of the little one moving her leg, despite having a feeding tube in her nose, was both moving and heartbreaking.

Jesy has also been advocating for the NHS to include SMA Type 1 in its standard heel prick test, a procedure that could’ve potentially saved her twins from the devastating condition. She calls the £1 test a life-saving measure that would have given her children access to treatment earlier, possibly preventing their disability.

In a recent interview, Jesy’s former bandmate, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, expressed her heartbreak over the news, calling it “awful, heartbreaking” and praised Jesy for using her platform to raise awareness. Leigh-Anne added that despite Little Mix no longer being together, the sisterhood between them is still strong, showing the unwavering support that remains between the girls.

This ongoing journey for Jesy is a testament to her strength as a mother, and the outpouring of support from fans and friends continues to remind her that she’s not alone in this fight.
