Coronation Street fans have been left concerned for Betsy Swain after spotting a ‘hint’ that things may not work out too well for her following a horror crash.

Those who follow the ITV soap know that on Monday (January 5) a one-off episode will air that crosses the Manchester-based programme with its Yorkshire neighbours, Emmerdale, for the very first time.

The hour-long episode, named Corriedale, was announced earlier this year and is set to kick off the network’s new ‘soap power hour’, which will see Corrie and Emmerdale air in half-hour instalments every weeknight.

To mark the change, producers, scriptwriters and production teams have conceived an ingenious way of linking the two universes, with characters then returning to the soaps they are renowned for inhabiting, but with the horror that unfolds linking them forever.

Corriedale has since been teased in two atmospheric promo videos that give a glimpse at the horror coming up on Monday, January 5, at 8pm, as in the chaotic aftermath of the smash, characters from both shows calling for help in the darkness as the emergency services arrive at the scene on a country road near the village of Hotten.

Ahead of the huge TV event, Corrie and Emmerdale have been teasing fans with trailers and pictures as well as content featuring cast members from each soap together.

In a new video, they were seen teaming up for a ‘this or that’ style quizzing in which they were asked questions which pitted the shows, and their own home cities against each other, such as, ‘Would you rather live at Corrie or Emmerdale?’ and ‘What do you call the three meals of the day?’

Sydney Martin and Katie Hill will featured in the crossover as characters Betsy Swain and Sarah Sugden

Among those teaming up were Sydney Martin, who plays Corrie’s Betsy, and Katie Hill, who plays Sarah Sugden in Emmerdale, as they are among the 40-strong cast list for the historic TV event.

But it seems fans were disctracted as the clips were captured during Corriedale filming and Sydney had a very obvious fake wound to her forehead.
