Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash ‘have big news’ for fans after they gave them a heartbreaking insight into their recent family life.
The couple have opened up their family home, Pickle Cottage, to the cameras for their very own reality series, Stacey & Joe, on BBC One and are joined in the show by their children, Rex, five, Rose, three, and Belle, two, as well as Stacey’s older sons Zachary, 17, and Leighton, 12, who she had from two previous relationships.
The first series aired earlier this year and at the end, it was confirmed a second was already in the works. Stacey and Joe, who married in 2022, commented on their return: “We’ve been so grateful for all the lovely messages and people watching series one.
“Everyone’s support means the world to us and we can’t wait to take everyone on this crazy journey we call life! We hope people will laugh along with us again in this new series.”
The programme has since returned to screens for its second run, as Stacey and Joe continue to document the highs and lows of life juggling work, play, parenting and their ever-growing menagerie of pets.
During the latest episode on Tuesday (September 30), there were emotional scenes as Stacey and Joe received devastating news about their pet dog, Teddy.
Earlier this year, Stacey revealed on social media that their beloved pooch had suddenly taken ill and asked fans for their ‘prayers’ as he underwent a difficult operation.
At the time, Teddy suddenly lost the use of his back legs and it was later confirmed that he had a predisposed condition which saw his spinal discs worn away. While he survived the op, Stacey and Joe were told that Teddy would never regain the use of his back legs and has since been seen being supported by the couple in his newly-adapted life.
The series took viewers back to the moment the events unfolded. Upon seeing Joe and Zachary at the vet, Stacey immediately began to sob as she tried to explain what was happening.
“It’s not that good. You come in and speak to her. I feel really bad. I don’t know what to do because you can see all his discs are gone, they’ve been bad – it must be hereditary, she said. I don’t know what to do,” she said.
In a separate scene, Joe told viewers: “At the moment, there’s a 70% chance that he’ll never be able to use his legs again. He’s slipped a disc in his back which is crushing his spinal cord which is making him paralysed. Is it fair putting him through an operation with such little chance of recovery? But then, he’s part of our family.”
Following the emotional scenes, it was confirmed that fans would be able to see what happened next with Teddy as the rest of the series has become available to view early.
A post on the show’s Instagram page read: “We have huge news! It’s official… ALL episodes from series 1 AND 2 of Stacey & Joe are now on @bbciplayer! You can finish the end of series 2 all in one go!”
And fans were quick to respond. @hollie_ever_after said: “Omg yessssssssssss!!!!! Made my day!” @sarah_l_harbottle commented: “Wooohooo.. that’s my night sorted tonight then.. love to you all.”
