Coronation Street fans ‘don’t believe’ it as star issues ‘goodbye’ message
They don’t think Becky Swain’s exit from Weatherfield is going to be a permanent
Coronation Street fans have said they ‘don’t believe’ a recent exit from Weatherfield is going to be a permanent one as they responded to the star’s ‘goodbye’ post.
Those who follow the ITV soap were recently saw the back of Becky Swain following her attempts to get her ex-partner Lisa Swain back, despite her moving on with Carla Connor, after making a shock return into her life back in September.
Despite her family being led to believe she had been killed in the line of duty, Becky’s arrival came just days after Lisa and her new partner, Carla Connor, got engaged, and on her and Lisa’s daughter, Betsy’s 18th birthday. Becky soon succeeded in splitting them up, with viewers witnessing emotional scenes as Carla called time on her and Lisa’s relationship.
Then, in a shocking turn of events, Becky ended up kidnapping Carla, who was planning to leave for a break in Spain, and kept her held hostage in a flat which Carla had unknowingly been given the location words for when she paid Lisa’s boss, DI Costello, a visit in hospital.
Luckily, those details had been shared with Kit and eventually, weeks after she hadn’t shown up to the hotel she was planning on staying at in Spain, the detective constable tracked Carla down to a shipping container, where Becky had moved her to. The duo then ended up chasing down Becky, who was on her way to Hull with Lisa and Betsy in tow as they prepared to leave for Rotterdam.
But what they didn’t expect was to find the trio involved in a horror multi-vehicle pile-up, leading to Carla and Kit having to help save Betsy and Lisa’s lives. And in a big twist, there was a moment of satisfaction for fans, as even in her injured state, Lisa sprang into detective mode and arrested Becky.
Days later, and in Corrie scenes aired last week, Lisa was informed that Becky had been sentenced to 12 years, and her name wasn’t brought up during her sentencing. DI Thompson told Lisa: “She got 12 years. And as far as I know, your name wasn’t mentioned, which I guess is the good news.
“And the not-so-good news, you’re being placed on restricted duties while there’s an internal investigation. We both know that could have been a lot worse. Listen, from what I hear, you’re a good cop. Keep your head down and soon you’ll be able to put this whole chapter behind you.”
But despite Lisa reiterating to Betsy that Becky was out of their lives for good, some Corrie fans aren’t convinced as they reshared a post from Amy Cudden in which she said goodbye to her divisive role.
@TVMusings26 said: “Anyone else feel Becky’s ending gave a ‘we will circle back to this later’ but first let’s fix Swarla vibe or is that just me? It was a bit to abrupt for my liking…Amy Cuddle your bye bye post was lovely but I don’t believe you. #Corrie.” @sam_Fletcher78 replied: “I don’t think we have heard the last of her. Just felt the story was rushed.”
@Valravennz shared: “I have a gut feeling we have not heard the last of Becky. She is behind bars…for now. Her SL feels incomplete and open to a return. I hope not though kudos to Amy Cudden, for her brilliant portrayal of villainous Becky #Corrie #Swarla.” @corriecorefour echoed: “Nope not the last we’ve heard of bent Becky I’m sure of it.”
@vanity_lover added: “Amy Cudden. Honestly, what a queen! no easy task to come into a soap & mess with swarla, who are huge – she did it, all whilst championing for them herself at pretty much every turn. something tells me it isn’t the last we’ve saw of becky though. ‘swarla forever’ #swarla.”
