The Bold and the Beautiful star Sean Kanan (Deacon) is speaking out about the killing of 15 Jews at a Hanukkah celebration in Australia. Kanan, who is Jewish, posted a video on Instagram and said:
As Jews around the world celebrate Hanukkah, the Jewish festival of lights, our prayers, my prayers, go out to the victims of the anti-Semitic attack in Australia that has left Bondi Beach stained in blood from a barbaric act of terrorism. I pray for everyone whose lives have been damaged by atrocities like this. Anti-Semitism—like any act of senseless violence directed at a group because of their religion, their race, or sexual orientation—diminishes all of humanity, not just those who are targeted. If there can be any meaning that can arise from something like this, I pray that as one race, the human race, we can rise up with one voice and say, ‘No more.’ I pray that we can come together and recognize that we are fundamentally more alike than not and that there’s no room on our planet for this. On Dec. 14, the first night of Hanukkah, at least 27 were injured and 15 were murdered in a terrorist attack at a holiday celebration in Bondi Beach, Australia. This is the most severe shooting in the country in nearly three decades. The victims include a Holocaust survivor, children, and multiple rabbis.
