SECRET EXPOSED: THE ULTIMATE ANGEL JUST TURNED INTO A TOTAL MONSTER!

The Bold and the Beautiful has flipped the script on Electra Forrester and it might be one of its most brilliant moves in years. Little Miss Pure and Perfect has shown her true colors and emerged as anything but the ingenue heroine.

Electra’s evolution

For a while, there wasn’t much to be excited about when it came to Electra Forrester (Laneya Grace). All she did was stand around talking about how dreamy Will was for months while debating whether she would give him her virginity or not. We saw a few moments of spunk when she stood up to Luna (Lisa Yamada) and laid claim to her man. At the time, we cheered her on because there was no way to ever sympathize with Luna — and with good reason.

Like Electra, Luna started out as the sweet (allegedly) virginal Forrester intern who fell for the prodigal son. She was young, beautiful, and supposedly oh-so-innocent. And then she turned on a dime. Before we could blink, we learned that she had been putting on an act all along and was a psychotic double murderer. We felt like we had whiplash, but the story would have worked had Luna not eaten the entire show.

As Luna’s cartoon antics became more implausible, we were ready for it to end and were fine with Electra slapping her around a bit. Thankfully, Electra’s evolution — or should we say devolution? — was much more subtle, natural, and gradual. We saw hints of how horribly self-absorbed Electra was when she made herself the victim after learning Luna had raped Will (Crew Morrow). Somehow, it became all about her when it was her boyfriend who had been sexually assaulted. And it just…devolved from there.

Electra’s world on The Bold and the Beautiful

We should have known something was about to change when Will had to explain homelessness to Electra, when it seemed like a foreign concept to this overprivileged young woman. She was floored that there were people in this world who had to live out of their cars. Who had ever heard of such a thing? (Most of us have. Just not Electra.) Electra must have thought she was the kindest soul in town when she “allowed” her very best friend, Miss Dylan (Sydney Bullock), to stay in the room above her boyfriend’s garage.

However, when Electra saw that Dylan and Will liked one another just a little too much, the real Electra came out to play. She made it clear that Dylan was to follow her rules while living with Will — or else. Well, Dylan certainly tried to do exactly what Electra wanted, but she didn’t, so Electra decided that Will either make Dylan homeless again or their relationship was over. So much for BFFs.

Electra has now made it clear to Dylan that the glamorous world of Forrester Creations is HER world and Dylan is not permitted to invade it. She has also made it clear that she is the new vixen in town, namely a vixen with no self-awareness cosplaying as a damsel in distress. Electra’s devolution was certainly unexpected, but exactly what the character needed for a whole new direction that we can’t wait to see.
